A Day in my Life

October!  The first day of October came in beautifully.  The sun shone, the temperature was perfect.  Here's how my day went.

It's definitely darker in the morning.  This was at the corner of our road about 7:10 am.

And then, a little ways down the road.  The sun is coming up and the mist is hanging over the road.

Our office and therapy hall.  It's about 7:20 and I am the first to arrive.  You can see the light shining out of my office door part way down.

Simple pleasures!  I am funny about ink pens, maybe because I use them so much.  This is my favorite pen and my last one had run out.  So I was happy to have a new package to start with on this morning.  This will probably last me 8 months or so.

One of my jobs at work is ordering supplies for feeding tubes, tracheostomies, catheter kits...   They are delivered on Thursday and our maintenance man stacks them up in our supply room.  On Friday morning, I get a cart and bring things to the nurses supply room, and organize what's left in this room.

It was a busy day.  We had an in-service to attend in the afternoon.  I also worked on staff competency reviews, lab orders and trying to close out infection control things for last month which is something that takes several days.  I also had to talk to the Dr several times about things going on with our residents.  Then we had an admission come at 5.  By the time I got orders put in and got him settled it was nearly 6.
Friday night is date night for us.  We almost always go out for supper, so I went and picked Bob up.  He had been home since 4 so was ready to head out.
We went to a town about 20 minutes from us.

I had a turkey panini and Bob had a BBQ bacon burger, which he said was the best ever.  My sandwich was also very good.

This is the beautiful sunset we saw as we were driving home.

We got home close to 8 and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Happy October!

Mari, I have had you and your staff shortage on my mind for weeks ...I do hope things are settling down somewhat in the workforce.

Love all the nature scenes from sunrise to sunset. And that burger looks scrumptious (love Bob's smile).

I hope your nurses situation has improved Mari. My heart goes out to all health care workers right now. It is getting darker earlier here and it is about a month away from the time change. Being at the edge of the Central Time Zone, it is often dark by 4:30 in December. It is beginning to look like fall here as well...trees are changing, leaves are dropping!!

You are truly in the right profession Mari. You never complain about working over your regular hours and care so much for your residents. If I ever need to go into assisted living or a nursing home, I can only hope for such good care. Bob's BBQ bacon burger looks so good:)

I'm a retired Bookkeeper Accountant and am funny about pens and mechanical pencils. It was very much a part of my job Way Back When. I have to have the "right" kind of writing utensil for whatever task I'm undertaking.
We used to always do the Friday Date Night too but somehow it has just fallen away. Maybe because we eat so good at home that local restaurants can't compare.
Oh, and I saw you're on FB. I sent a "friend" request today.
Hope you have a relaxing, beautiful week!
Blessings. xx

Sunrise to sunset...long days for you, but love that you spend Fridays on a date. It's a lovely way to end the week, I'm sure.

Your job sounds incredibly busy and time consuming. I truly don't know how you get it all done. Friday is date night for us as well. Always nice to get out after a busy week.

I'm so late getting to this post but I always enjoy reading about your first day. Another busy one! How nice to go out on a Friday night. We often did that too, with the kids still living at home, on a Friday because this mama was DONE by the end of the week. Your porch is so pretty and that sunset...I love a pretty sky!
