A cold trip to the beach

I live in Allendale, Michigan.  It's not a big town, but it's a great location.  We are 20 minutes one way from Grand Rapids and 20 minutes the other way from the lakeshore - of Lake Michigan.
I was in Grand Haven last week and decided to drive over to the lighthouse.  We love it in the summer, but it's pretty in the winter too.

It's been very cold and we had another snowstorm last week.  However, this week it's supposed to warm up, maybe even making it to 45 degrees next Saturday.  So, I think that the ice I saw will soon be a thing of the past. I'm so ready for warmer weather!

Here's how the Grand Haven Lighthouse looked last week.

It was very cold out there so I didn't stay long!

These photos are so stunning! The intense blues, the snow and red...Does the lighthouse keeper live in the little house?

Beautiful, clear day.

Yes, it does look bitter cold.

Ginny - it's an automated lighthouse so no keeper is needed.

Hi Mari, those are pretty pictures! We are freezing in the 50's! I have a great niece that lives in Michigan. Enjoy your week!

That is a beautiful place! I'm so glad that you live close by and can enjoy that lovely lighthouse.
That is pretty incredible how the ice is breaking up so quickly.

Does your husband fish? My husband loves, loves to fish, and this winter he had planned on ice fishing. I had a feeling that it was going to be one of those years that the ice breaks up sooner than later, so I vetoed any ice fishing this winter.
Turns out that the ice indeed has been softer this winter, and I'm grateful that he didn't risk it.

Have a lovely day.

Love the vibrancy of color and the way it has its own beauty in the winter too. But it does look cold! Lol

These are beautiful pictures but the ice and snow are so cold. Hopefully, warm weather will come soon to your part of the country.

Amazing set of photos! It sure does look cold but very beautiful. The ice on the water looks like clouds in the sky.
