Time with our girls

This weekend we were finally able to have Alaina and Ruby overnight again.  My work schedule has been crazy again, and they had some events with friends on a few Saturdays as well.  We've been missing seeing them and were looking forward to spending some time together!

Our first project of the evening was to make some ice suncatchers.  I had these silicone heart molds, and the girls put some pine, dried flowers and leaves in them.  Then they added a little food coloring (and they like food coloring, so they may have added a little too much)  It was supposed to be just a few swirls, but oh well, they had fun!

Then we put water in them and put them in the freezer overnight.

Our next project was making brownies.  They always say that I make good things for Grandpa and then they don't get it, so this time we made a pan for them to take home.

They each helped mix it.

Then we had to add sprinkles on top!

While the brownies baked, they put on their pajamas and then did some paper crafts in their room.

The finished brownies!  They could hardly wait to bring them home.

When Alaina was much younger and came over, we had cheese and crackers for a snack.  It became a tradition and they always want that when they come over.

After snack time, they snuggled up and we watched a movie. We watched 'Because of Winn Dixie',  a cute movie about a little girl and her dog from several years ago.  We all enjoyed it, and then it was bed time.

Here's Ruby on Saturday morning, snuggling with bunny and waking up.

They played while I got some cooking and laundry done.  They we headed to my Dad's house to set up his meds for a few weeks.  They always enjoy going there.  We get McDonalds for lunch and they always share a few fries with him.  My sister Cheri came along this time because he wanted us to look over some tax stuff before he brought it all in to his accountant.

Here they are having a little lunch.

They did a little coloring with Great Grandma while I worked on the meds.

Then it was time to go home.

I had taken the ice suncatchers along in a cooler and they decided to hang them on a bush out front.

This one is Ruby's.  Even though it's quite dark, it was pretty.

Here's Alaina's.

And here they are hanging.  It was a sunny day and is supposed to be in the high 30's for the next week, so they may not last long, but it was still fun, and didn't cost anything except the cord to hang them.  Maybe next time we'll do them without the food color.

It looks like the girls had a fun time with you. Those sun catchers came out so nice. They would not last long here in So Calif. How cute that they like cracker and cheese. We always try to have snacks for the grands. Ice cream too but the younger grands can't have dairy so we have dairy free for them. Nice that you do the meds for your dad too! Have a great week Mari!

Awwww what a sweet craft the suncatchers are! Alas it is never cold enough here to make that work. I would love to see them clear, like glass! Hide the food coloring next time! And pass the brownies, there's a good girl. Haahahaha xoxo
