Father's Day

I hope you all had a nice Father's Day.  Ours was very different and quiet this year.

Most of you know that I had such a great dad!  He loved us all and always showed it.  He modeled his faith in the way he lived.
He passed away a little over 2 months ago, so this was our first Father's Day without him and he was very missed.  But there is great comfort in knowing he is now in perfect health and with his heavenly Father!

This picture was taken just a few days before he passed away.  This was a Friday and I had taken a day off to take him to a few different places.  One of our stops was at a little restaurant where he loved the milkshakes, so that's what he's holding here.
The girls at work had teased me and said I needed to send a picture with him to prove I was really doing that.  I'm so glad they did because he passed away on Monday, and now I have this picture from a few days earlier.

Another great dad in my life is my husband.  He also loves his kids and will do anything for them. Like my Dad, he models his faith in the way he lives.
He got a terrible stomach bug and was sick all last week, hardly eating and barely getting up.

This is a picture I sent to our girls on Saturday to show them he was greatly improving and still had his sense of humor.

However, because his stomach is still touchy, we had no celebration.  We're trying for one this coming weekend and praying everyone stays healthy!

Happy Father's Day to all the special Dads out there!

Happy Father's Day in his memories. You were kind to help him in the end.

These pictures of your dad and husband are special. My condolences to you for your loss and I'm so glad you've got a good man with a great sense of humor. Laughter is important in a marriage. Enjoy your celebration after he's fully recovered.

Hello Mari- My Dad passed away 30 years ago- Dad was 84. My Mum passed away some 43 years ago from Heart Failure - Mum was 64...I can say that our Parents are always with us- there is hardly a day missed when I do not think about Mum and Dad...especially Mum- I felt closer to my Mum and I think I have my creativity from Mum. Best Wishes. KEV. (Sydney- Australia).

That was a sweet tribute. These "firsts" are the hardest. I pray your heart heals with time.
Prayers. xx

I'm just devastated about Bob's illness but it's such an answer to prayer that he is better. That's really scary and although you'll never know for sure where or how he picked up that bug, it's a reminder to be grateful for every day that we enjoy good health. Having lost my dad when I was eleven, after having never known him at all, I am so grateful for TG and the kind of father he is to our four children, and the kind of papaw he is to the grands. It's impossible to underestimate the influence of godly men on their children and grandchildren. I hope that this coming first-weekend-of-the-summer you are able to all be together and have a proper celebration. xoxo

The first Father's Day without your dad is a sad one. I hope Bob is feeling better now and you can really celebrate him next weekend!

The older we get those special days do change. One of my grandmas was the last "mom" living and when she died it felt sad to not go shopping for a Mother's Day card. Same for the dads in my life (and now Joe who was a great dad and grandpa). Memories warm my heart as I know they do yours and we have our faith to keep us strong and looking forward!! That's a great photo of you and your sweet dad. I am glad Bob is feeling better and I sure hope you get to celebrate this weekend! xo

Father's Day is always a tough holiday for me like Mother's Day. My folks both loved celebrating each other on those days with all of us. That first one is very hard. Sending you some gentle hugs. I like your sweet photos too. To all those dad's out there who do a great job caring for their loved ones. To all our dad's and loved ones in heaven, you are in perfect peace with Our Lord. Hope you & Bob both stay healthy. Take care and have a blessed new week.

I thought about you on Father's Day. This picture of your dad is a treasure! A milkshake was the last thing I got for my dad a few days before he passed. He loved strawberry milkshakes from Back Yard Burger, so I got him one. He didn't eat much of it, but I was happy to get him whatever he wanted. I sure hope your husband is feeling better! I've been catching up on your posts with all of your travels, and the pictures of your adventures are just fantastic!

It's been over 40 years since my dad passed and I still miss him terribly, especially on Father's Day. I guess all that missing is a testament to what great dads we had...xo
