Finally!!!

Today I have a saga to share with you.  Many of you know much of this story.  It's the story of building our front porch and then getting some chairs for it.

This project started two years ago.  We wanted to add a porch onto our house.  Nothing went smoothly, there were delays in every area.  Part of it was done and then it got put on hold through the winter and was finally completed last summer.

We had also been looking ahead to get chairs for the porch.  We were greatly looking forward to sitting on that porch and enjoying the outdoors.  We wanted white Adirondack chairs.  We were looking for gliders as opposed to rockers and wanted the poly-vinyl style instead of wood so they would last.
There are several Amish places in Shipshewana, Indiana that make and sell these chairs.  We went there, only to find that for some reason there was a shortage of material, added costs, no guarantee as to when they might come.

So, Bob found another place that made the chairs we liked and we ordered them in April, 2021.  They were supposed to arrive in September.
And we waited...   There was delay after delay.  As you know, many things are in short supply, and hard to find right now.  We also figured, we wouldn't be using the chairs in the winter, so waiting then wasn't so hard.
We were thrilled in the beginning of April, when they said the chairs were coming!  However, not so thrilled when they brought us the wrong chairs, and we found ours got delivered to Massachusetts.
More waiting!

And then, last Saturday, 13 months after we ordered the chairs, this trailer showed up!

The wrong chairs were brought to the trailer.

And traded out for our long awaited gliders!

Bob and Alaina tested them out.

Here's how the porch looks with the chairs in their place.

We can finally say this whole project is complete!  The chairs are very comfortable and we've already been making use of them.
If you pass through West Michigan, look me up and we'll have coffee on the porch!

The porch is wonderful! We do not have one, and if we build one it would look just like yours. You are giving me ideas. The chairs are great, and so comfy looking! I did not know that Adirondack Gliders were even a thing!

Oh, I love your porch and those chairs!!! It does look complete and just in time for summer.

You were awfully patient to wait that long. I probably would have canceled. I'm glad you didn't because the chairs look great.
