Ukulele Concert

Last week I got to go to a ukulele concert!  Alaina is in 6th grade and is taking a creative music class.

Here she is with her friend Quinn before things started.

She had to get up and talk a little about what they were doing.

Here's the whole group playing.  It's a small group.  They sounded good and I think it's such a fun thing to learn to play.

They are also learning to write music.  Here, Alaina was playing one of her songs on her computer.

One more picture of Alaina with her ukulele.  It was a fun night!

That’s nice that she is learning the ukulele. I was once told it is also called a jumping flea. My best friend married a Hawaiian who played. Odd name but I guess it has meaning or I missed something! 🙄
Remember Tiny Tim’s Tiptoe through the Tulips?

It looks like she is a natural. And this sounds like such a good class! I did not know you can learn to write a song, I thought it was just a talent that a person has.

Looks like a nice night. Our nine-year-old granddaughter also plays the ukulele. It's fun to see how talented our grandchildren are. I hope you have a great week!

Sounds like an amazing experience! Ukulele concerts must be a blast, especially with a small and talented group like Alaina's. It's impressive that they're not only learning to play but also diving into the world of music composition.

Hugs and blessings, Mari

This is so wonderful!! The Arts are more important than many people believe and I am always so happy to see music and art programs flourishing in the schools. How fun for Alaina to have this in her life!! Great photos and congratulations to Alaina on a stellar performance!!

Whenever I see a ukulele I always think of the old entertainer Arthur Godfrey. What fun! I'm sure she did a great job. Music is such a wonderful talent to have. Blessings. xx

Awwww so precious! I hate to be Debbie Downer but a ukulele being played is one of the sounds that makes me want to stuff nails into my ears. I don't know why. But I would be charmed by Alaina playing it, I am sure! Hahahaha xoxo

Yay Alaina! That's awesome. Annie loved the ukele when she was younger and had one and taught herself to play. It's such a neat instrument. I think music in every form is so great for kiddos to learn. And fun!

The ukulele was my daughter's first instrument. It turned out to be a gateway "drug"!! We now have several of them, along with a collection of guitars and basses - electric and acoustic. Beware! Hahaha!!

That is really neat!! I love that they are learning to play and write music as well! What great training! I never learned to play any instrument, and I feel like I missed out. But at least I did learn to sing in the H.s. Chorus! Great pictures.
