Oh, what a night...

We had a terrible storm here Friday night.  It had been extremely hot during the day, and then in the middle of the night, this storm hit.  There was a question of a tornado, but it was determined that the damage came from straight line winds of approximately 90mph.
The area that had the worst damage was just a short distance from our daughter Laura's house.  They had no damage around them and didn't even lose power but about 3 miles away, it looked like this.

This trampoline blew over from 3 homes down.

This was the home that had the worst damage.  A 76 year old woman lives here, and woke up to find her roof blow off along with part of the back of her house.  Thankfully, she wasn't injured.

In our area, things weren't nearly as bad, but there were some trees down.

This tree was in the backyard of a couple from our church. They were out of town, and came home to find a huge mess in their yard.

This is our driveway - our yard is covered with leaves and branches, but that's the extent of the damage here.

Many people are without power, some may be out until Wednesday.  We were without cable and internet until Sunday afternoon, so I was unable to visit your blogs over the weekend.
We're just so thankful no one was injured!

Oh my goodness Mari, I am so glad you all are alright. That poor lady whose home was damaged will be in my prayers. And the uprooted trees and lawn as well. I will pray for everyone impacted, that must have been a trying time.

How scary that must have been!! I can’t imagine straight line winds at 90 mph. Don’t think I’ve ever experienced that.

Thankfully, no injuries; amazing really thanks be to God. He was certainly there for the woman whose home was destroyed. Prayers for her that she has family to help her out.

We've been very fortunate here; pretty much afternoon showers with thunder far away.

Straight lines winds can do as much damage as a tornado. We have those kinds of storms here as well. So glad you are ok Mari.

Oh my, that is a lot of damage. Must have been some kind of wind to knock down those big trees and what a loss. Glad no one was hurt.

That certainly was a massive tree that went down in your friend's yard!
What a blessing that no one was injured during such a violent storm!
Glad that you and your family are safe and sound.

That much damage and no tornado? Wow!! So glad your home and Laura's are both okay. We had trees down like that when Irma went through last year. Scary stuff.

WOW!! So thankful no one was hurt. We had a monster of a storm on Friday evening...today, it is just raining and the heat wave has finally broken, thank goodness. I am sure though, by the end of the week it will be back. smiles

Oh Mari! This is awful. Thank God you all came through that unscathed, but I feel for those with property damage. These pictures tap into my deeply rooted (see what I did there?) fear of a tree falling on me. It happens all the time but TG just rolls his eyes when I obsess about it. I wonder why. xoxo

It was definitely a crazy storm. And crazy that we only woke up because of the loud thunder. We had no idea what was happening just up the hill from us.
