Grand Haven Lighthouse

We live about 20 minutes away from Lake Michigan which is always a favorite stop in the summer. It's also beautiful in the winter and I always try to stop there at least once during the winter season.
I was in Grand Haven and stopped for a short look last week.  It was windy and oh, so cold!

The beach was experiencing some rare winter sunshine.  You can see the snow fencing they put up and beyond that are the frozen waves.

There were people walking along the beach, their dog was enjoying running up and down the ice.

Further down the beach, you can see the lighthouse.

The Grand Haven Lighthouse, a beautiful sight no matter the weather!

It was interesting to see people on the 'beach' in winter snow. Why do they put up snow fences?

Frozen waves ... that's just too much cold for me, my dear. I do like your winter pictures of Grand Haven every year, though! They make me feel snug and warm, hahahaha! Happy February! xoxo

Beautiful! All seasons have their beauty,

For Chatty Crone - Snow fences are put up in certain areas to prevent drifting snow. They always put them up at the beach to prevent the wind blowing the sand and causing it to drift over roads.

Brrr! We live half hour, 45 minutes from Lake Ontario, it's incredible in the winter time. Your pictures are beautiful, I am inspired to go for a drive one of these days! But I'm not sure if I'll want to get out and walk!

I know this is a beautiful sight to see...I can't imagine frozen waves, that much snow, and such cold temps coming from off of the lake. I would love to visit here during the Winter, but this will mostly likely never happen. Absolutely gorgeous..

Great photos, Mari!! If the waves are frozen, you know it is COLD there!! I can't even imagine being out in weather that cold now. I lived a couple hundred yards from Lake Erie back in the 70s. I do know cold. Thankful to live in Florida now!! LOL

Awe, this post made me yearn for lake Michigan. I LOVE your photos. Many years ago, we took a trip around lake Michigan and visited lighthouses along the way, I can't recall if we had visited this one. Might have to make a stop the next time we head to our son's home over by Ann Arbor.
