A Day in my Life

Happy February to all of you! Every month I do a post showing what I did on the first day of the month.  So here's how the first day of February went for me.

I start my mornings by going downstairs and walking on the treadmill. I do this Mon-Sat and take Sunday off.

After eating breakfast, I walked out to put some mail in the mailbox.  The sun was shining!  In Michigan, especially on the west side, we get lots of cloudy days in the winter because of having Lake Michigan near us.  It causes a Lake effect situation giving us clouds and snow.  So we love seeing the sun and blue skies when it happens.  It was 25 degrees at this time, much better than the terrible cold we had last week.

Next I spent some time in this book.  It's a read through the Bible in a year book, with notes in each day by John MacArthur.  It was suggested to me by my friend Dianna from Joyful in His Presence, and she is also reading it.  I've really be enjoying it.

Then it was time to get some things done.  My Saturdays are much more relaxed since I retired.  I get most of my housework done throughout the week.  However, I still do food prep on Saturday for Sunday.  Sunday is busy and it's nice to have a meal ready in the crockpot when we get home from church.

First I made this hot chicken spread for buns that we'll have for supper on Sunday.  It's in my mini crock-pot ready to be started in the afternoon.

Then I made Chicken Noodle soup to have when we come home from church.

Have you heard of these noodles?  They are in the freezer section and make your soup so good!  They're thicker, Amish style noodles and are so much better than the dry egg noodles you buy on the shelf.

I also made some corn muffins to eat with the soup, then cleaned the kitchen and ran the dishwasher.

After lunch, Bob and I ran a few errands, including a stop at our church to drop some things off for tomorrow.

Our snowy, messy roads had the car looking bad, so we drove through the car wash.

Here's our neighbors farm on the way home.  We had a few days that the temp went above freezing so some of the snow has melted, but there's still plenty on the ground.

I had some time to relax, look at blogs and do a little reading in the afternoon.

We had garlic bread pizza for supper.  It's a quick and easy way to make pizza; open frozen garlic bread, spread pizza sauce on, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese over and add toppings of your choice.  I had tomatoes and basil.  Bob had pepperoni, bacon and sausage.  It's good!

We love British Detective shows and recently have been watching the Inspector Lynley Mysteries, so in the evening we watched 2 episodes of this show and they were good as usual!

I'm noticing the days getting longer and I'm thankful for that!  I'm also happy we've made it to February.  It was a good day to start the month.

Hi Mari! I love your "Day in My Life" posts. It's always fun to see what you day was like on the first of the month. I hope that your February is a great one! Enjoy this week. See you again soon!

You got a lot accomplished in one day! We love British mystery shows, too! We even subscribe to Britbox. Have you ever watched Shetland? I have heard of Reames noodles. In fact, The Pioneer woman uses them in her soup. But I have never seen any. Now I will go to the freezer section and look a lot harder.

Beautiful shot of the sun shining through the trees.
I've been noticing (and loving) that the days are getting longer too.
The garlic bread pizza looks so good. I'm going to give it a try.

You are so organized and prepared for Sunday. I am impressed. soup and cornbread, yum... I will be making the bread pizza, next week. I can't eat the ones that are frozen but since I buy loaves of French bread for me, I can make this and put what he can eat and what I can eat on each half.. thanks..

Wow what a full day, I'm thinking I'd best do more to keep up!

A full day indeed. I went an hour North of us last Saturday and the lake effect snow from Lake Huron was causing havoc. I went from blue sky to snowing and messy roads. That's Michigan. I often make pizza using pita bread. Will need to try garlic bread now. Thanks for the idea. Janice

Mari,
I like how you record the first day of your month, taking us along.
After several weeks of cold, for us cold is staying in the twenties during the day, it is now like spring. Which is very nice, yet I do not prefer these spring-like days because everything begins to bloom and we know more cold is coming around the bend!
I do read through the Bible in a year, but I have never used John MacArthur's Bible, though I do like his teaching. Never tried the egg noodles.Blessings!

Oh, and it was my daughter that we bought the violin for, my "late in life" child😊.

Good morning Mari. You make cooking look so easy and I love it. Would you believe I just bought a bag of the noodles. I haven't used them yet but I'm excited to try them out. Love the looks of the beautiful snow, but not sure I would like having it everyday. It truly is pretty though. You are so smart to plan your meals ahead of time. I must do better at meal planning. I always enjoy Dianna's blog and she always post some great reads. Thanks for sharing all of this goodness..

You had a full day on the first of February, my friend. But I love the variety of things that you did. All of your food pictures look amazing. Have you shared the recipe for the hot chicken spread here? That sounds and looks delicious...as does your chicken noodle soup and the corn muffins!

Here's the recipe for the hot chicken sandwiches for those who asked:

You are one busy gal. I do remember in Chicago the year we moved there were 69 days in a row without sunshine. GA is the opposite.
You soup looked good - I have never seen those noodles in the freezer section - what section are they near?
And is your cornbread from scratch? Looks delicious.

Wow, you really squeeze a lot into your day. I just haven't had the umpfh to accomplish much this last week or two.
Your meals look delicious and I'm going to look at that chicken spread. Simple prep and tasty too.

You've had a busy week. The ski picture is great, so blue. Down in central Ohio, we see lots of dull gray days like you, so when the yellow thing in thy sky pops out, it's pretty exciting. Your quick pizza idea sounds great. Must try to remember that. Good luck with your treadmill routine. Since we're now in SC for the winter, I have been able to get out and walk which I like better than going to a gym for the treadmill; but having one there at the house...that seems like quite a bonus. Stay warm.

I enjoyed this little peek into your first day of February. It sounds like a productive, yet enjoyable day. I commend you for being so faithful with your treadmill walking. The sun shining on the snow is a beautiful sight. We have 73 degrees here currently. I'm enjoying having the doors and windows open.
I have not seen the egg noodles before. They sure do look good. I will look for them next time I am at the grocery store. Thanks for the tip.

What a nice day! I feel like I was there too. I can smell that yummy pizza, the soup, and all the others from here.
We're fans of British Detective stories too. We spend most of our evenings casting (Chromecast) BritBox or something British on YouTube to the TV. ❤️

This looks like a great day and I love the pizza idea. I haven't made it with garlic bread.

I enjoyed your post so much, and that garlic bread pizza really looks good!!That's a great idea. I also like the looks of those amish style noodles. I don't know if we have those here, but I am going to look for them because lately I have not liked the dry noodles at all. You've shared some great ideas and thoughts and pictures. I enjoyed spending this day with you!

What a lovely full day you had.
We make pizzas like that too but haven't used garlic bread. Great idea.
We like British shows too and have seen the Lynley series. Right now we are watching New Tricks.

I like Inspector Lynley too! British detective shows are the best! I want to look for those noodles next time I go to Publix! Yum. I laughed when I read that 25 degrees was much better than the terrible cold last week! It's all relative I guess but I'm still giggling!! Sending a hug, Mari!!

The detective has another name in France but we like to watch it in the evening two episodes like you. The pizza toasts look good and quick eating in front of tv.
Here it is back to grey weather and rain is at the corner…

All the food looks so good! I am going to try the hot chicken sandwiches. We barely have any snow around here now. Just enough to be dirty and ugly! Lately we've been getting the majority of our snow in March! Maybe that won't happen this year!

The pizza looks yummy! I've not seen those noodles before, I'll have to check out the stores around here. I really enjoyed reading about your day.

I need to more disciplined with my walking in the winter. We walk outside every day in the nice weather, but something about walking inside isn't as enticing! Haha!!

Lovely start to your month! You live in such a beautiful area. I always love getting peeks at the yummy meals you do. Those noodles are the bomb! I haven't used them recently - but you given me a good reminder. I used to always use those for my turkey soup after Thanksgiving. I love all the British shows too - so good! Yay for February and Spring kinda sorta around the corner. Lol

I've started making those pizza breads for my son and he loves them. So quick and easy! The chicken noodle soup looks delicious, too. I've never seen those noodles, but I'll be on the lookout for them! So neat to see a day in your life!

Ohh great I was going to ask for that recipe too.

I have not ever gotten those frozen noodles! I do use the Amish style noodles when I make soup. I'll have to look for those frozen ones.

YES the days are getting longer! Last evening Hunter and I were driving to our house after I picked him up, and it was 6:10 and not completely dark!!!! Wooohooo!!!

Bless you for doing the treadmill six mornings a week!! I'm in a terrible slump this winter, and I NEED to get out of it. I can tell I'm losing strength and I hate it.

Oooh I love the Inspector Lynley mysteries! Like you I am an avid watcher of Brit TV, especially detective shows! Morse! Be still my heart! Hahahha ... and that PIZZA has me drooling! So easy! I shall have to try that. I took a screenshot of those noodles because do you know, I have NEVER made chicken noodle soup? I think it's about time I tried and those noodles have inspired me. Now, that chicken stuff you made, we call Crack Chicken. Is it the same, with cream cheese and ranch dressing mix? Irresistible! Your sunny winter day was so beautiful! I would enjoy the cloudy days of winter, hahaa! TG says I'm weird. xoxo
