Another overnight stay

I have just a few pictures to share with you from last weekend when Alaina and Ruby spent the night.  I didn't take as many as usual.

The weather was awful when we went to pick them up on Friday afternoon, so we just stopped for supper at Culvers (their favorite place) for supper and came back home.

They love to hook up our old Wii and play Mario Cart and race Grandpa.  We did that and then watched an old Muppet movie!

Here's how it looked the next morning.  At least it quit snowing for a while.

The girls are always wondering what kind of craft we are doing. They were thinking about holidays coming up and thought maybe it was something about Valentines day, then maybe Martin Luther King day.  When I said not those things, they said it was too early for Easter.   I asked them what had been going on lately and they said "fires". I don't know what craft we would do about fires though!  I reminded them that in our area it's been snowing non-stop!  So, we made snowmen...

The snowmen were made out of clothespins.  Here's Ruby painting her clothespins white.

And here's Alaina working on hers.

We used toothpicks dipped in black paint to make eyes and mouth, then brushed on just a little pink for the cheeks.  More black dots were added for buttons, and we painted the ended of toothpicks orange, cut them off and glued them to make noses.
Acorn caps made cute little caps, and strips of ribbon were tied on to make scarfs.

Here they are with their cute little snowmen.

We each made three of them.

Here's mine, tucked into a display on my table.

After lunch, we played a game of Wahoo. Did any of you play that when you were young?  This board was Bob's family board.  They loved it and said they want to play it again next time they come.
We sure have fun with them!

When I was a nanny and the kids were the ages of Alaina and Ruby, I had so much fun doing crafts with them. I found it to be so calming. Those are very cute snowmen. Clever with the acorn hats. It’s a shame really - I would have made an excellent hands on Grandmother but it’s not to be. So I keep busy doing other stuff.

Those are darling snowmen! What fun you have with Alaina and Ruby! Hope you have a good week. It's been cold here but we have very little snow in the valley. There is more in the mountains.

What clever little snowmen you created. They are adorable. We played Parcheesi growing up. It looks similar to your Wahoo game. It was also a wooden board with marbles. The cold temps is what is bothering me now. It is 5 degrees now at 6:30am and only getting to 20 today. Brrr. Janice

You come up with the cutest craft ideas. These snowmen with the acorn cap hats are adorable. I am not familiar with Wahoo. Always fun to teach the grandchildren new games and also to learn new games from them.

Never heard of Wahoo before, the board looks sorta similar to a game we played with marbles; but I don't remember what it was called. The snowmen turned out so cute! Looks like you all had a good visit.

I hear 'ya, Friend, when it comes to the snow and bad roads. Our poor kids are going to forget what it's like to go to school. We have about a foot and a half of snow now.... nine inches of that just since yesterday.

Love the craft of snowmen you did with the girls. And the acorns make adorable hats!

Oh Mari, you brought back such a fun memory for me. My Dad made a board just like your Wahoo board. We called it "OH NO" because someone was always being knocked back to the starting place and we would say OH NO... Used to play it all the time. Fun memory
I love those snowmen. They did such a wonderful job. No wonder they love to come to visit you.
Stay warm

I think we called that game "Aggravation"!! LOL. And those clothespin snowmen are adorable!! I think I know now why I never had any little girl granddaughters...I don't think I could ever think up such fun things to do with them! Your grandkids are really blessed to have you for their grandma!! What fun stuff to do on a snowy day!! Thanks for sharing the fun with us. Such a blessing to have your grandkids nearby!

Those snowmen are cute, but the girls are even cuter!! I never heard of the game Yahoo, but it kind of reminds me of Chinese Checkers.

The snowmen are adorable!! Y'all always have so much fun! That game board looks very much like the game we call "webster" but is more like aggravation. Interesting! Stay warm and cozy up there!

The snowmen clothes pins are so cute.
You all could have went outside and made real ones. :). But then they wouldn't last forever. :)

I've never heard of Wahoo but I love board games! And those snowmen turned out like nothing I've ever seen before either! They're so skinny, hahaha but those acorn hats are darling and the details just so adorable! Those girls will remember these times with you for the rest of their lives. So precious. xoxo
