Smoky Mountains, day 2

Our Sunday was a quieter day.  We had a peaceful morning and were able to watch the live stream of our church from the cabin.
That afternoon we went to the Foothills parkway and drove it for awhile.  I never tire of the beauty of the Smoky Mountains!

Can you see the little bee on the clover?

We stopped in Pigeon Forge and had supper at the Paula Dean restaurant.  It was delicious!

We saw these beautiful barns on the way back to the cabin.  I am always drawn to barns and there are so many great barns here, but a lot of them are in areas where you can't get a picture of them.

As we saw all this beauty, from the tiny flowers to the huge mountains, I had this phrase from the old hymn 'How Great Thou Art' go through my head.

"When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art."

YES perfect hymn for the glut of beauty that was all around you! And your barn pics are gorgeous ... what a sky for the backdrop of the red one! You can't beat the Smokies for scenery. Now on that clover, I did see a bee but there was nothing little about it. Just saying. Hahaha xoxo

Your pictures from your Sunday there in TN are so so pretty, Mari! I love old barns, too, and the one you have captured is so neat! Seeing that beauty of His creation makes it easy to understand why "How Great Thou Art" would be on your mind!

I'm glad you were able to visit near my home in Western North Carolina. We're close to Pigeon Forge. So happy you got to see the pretty wildflowers and mountains. It's beautiful at spring.

Hope you'll have a Happy Mother's Day.

Oh my what glorious country it is! I was actually singing to How Great Thou Art in the car to Matthew this weekend. He didn't know that hymn and I was telling him how it had been my Grandpa's favorite and it always makes me think of him. How perfect to echo your photos. :)
I don't think I even knew a Paula Deen restaurant existed...I can't even imagine how good the food would be! 😋

Purple mountain majesty in that one pic. Just love it. Plus I love old barns and they are slowly fading from our landscape. Janice
