I don't know if this happens in your area, but our weather people seem to love to blow storms out of perspective. This past weekend we were supposed to get hit with a huge ice storm - about 1 inch of ice, followed by snow. We were supposed to get the first ice portion Sat and then a second layer of ice around 11pm, and then the snow. We had to get all kinds of things in order at work, in case staff couldn't get in, or we had to run on generators... Many activities in our area were cancelled on Sat, and everyone was stocking up on bread and milk, keeping extra water on hand...
I told you yesterday that I brought Ruby home early to avoid driving in the ice, and there was some ice building up when I got home.

And this is from Sunday morning, a coating of ice on the branches.
However, that was the extent of it, no where near 1 inch of ice. The roads had some slippery spots, but were mostly just wet. This is why we don't always take these weather reports seriously. When they predict something awful, it doesn't come! Better safe than sorry, I guess, and I'm glad the power stayed on and we could all make it to church on Sunday!

I totally get it. Our weather forecasters here do the same thing. Charly and I both get "weather alerts" on our phones about the horrible storms coming, but so far this year, most of the snow we have had has been melted within an hour or two. Charly says that they blow things out of proportion for ratings on the news - probably some truth to that. Glad you survived the "big" storm. :-)
We do get a lot of build up to the weather storms here but nothing quite like what you got it seems. I've been hearing about possible snow for weeks and it finally arrived. In fact, there is a very cold snap and snow and storms all across Canada. I haven't seen it quite like this, ever.
Oh dear, SAME here but it surprises me that anyone panics in Michigan! Right now we're more in danger of pollen than snow (it's been in the 70s for days, with heavy rain and no winter weather in sight). But if our "meteorologists" predict even a flake of snow, all you-know-what breaks loose in the stores and EVERYTHING gets cancelled. They cancel stuff that wasn't even SCHEDULED. But ICE? That terrifies me. Even a little bit of it. So I hope everyone stayed safe and avoided driving in it. Nice excuse to stay home and snuggle with Ruby, haaha xoxo
We suffer the same way when hurricanes are headed our way. At least with hurricanes, we have several days to watch them wobble and change direction and hopefully blow over us. You are right, though! Better safe than sorry! Glad all is well.

I am glad you did not get a blizzard!! Here it is when the stormy tornado weather comes along that our weathermen get excited. It has been a warm and stormy January so far. There is a thunder storm as I am writing this comment.
The same thing happened to us over the weekend, but it wa a tornado instead of ice and snow. You have to plan tho, just in case. Have a good day.
I guess the "it is better to be safe then sorry" phrase is appropriate here.
Yikes, but glad it wasn't as bad as expected. I don't see how you can drive though with those ice patches on the road!

Yup, happens here, as well. I'm happy for the warning, but the hype usually far outweighs the storms.
We had the same thing happen. Roads were really slick Saturday night and Sunday morning and we were advised to stay home. By lunch time everything was melting.
It happens here too....snow and ice to come on Saturday. Will see how that works this time. But, twice this winter we've had several inches of snow when only a dusting was predicted. Totally surprised everyone!
Happy that you didn't get all that was predicted..an inch of ice, yikes! Better super prepared than not, I guess =)

When I lived over on the Puget Sound you could never take weather reports seriously. It was either no where near as bad as they said or it would end up being 10 times worse than they said. That's good you didn't get all the ice that was predicted! But the little bit you did get looks pretty.
