I wish I could have gotten better pics, but couldn't get close enough to the trees that had lots of ice.

Ice and flooding
We've had a real problem with high water in our area for the past year. The great lakes are very high, which has caused a lot of beach erosion, and recently a cottage was washed into Lake Michigan because of it. Closer to our house, the Grand River has also been high, and we get frequent flood advisories. Last week we had a lot of snow and the river was higher, but it has now come down a little.
I went to the river the other day to check it out.
You can see how high the water is, with this tree surrounded by water. It sure looks cold!
I thought some of these trees were so interesting. You can see ice shelves around the trunks, from when the water was higher, and then it sticks. It's pretty cool to see a bunch of trees together with these ice shelves on them.

WOWWOWOW...Same here, the rivers are up...way up. I should walk over to the bridge and take a photo. smiles
With either too much snow or rain, it is a problem. Hope you stay high and dry. The pictures give a good example.
Strange weather phenomenon these days. Interesting images. You were brave walking out near the icy river banks.
The TVA engineers have lowered the water here on the Tennessee River...perhaps to help with the water flow from up North. It has been such a rainy winter. And this week looks to be yucky as well. Hoping February brings some sunshine.

The ice shelves are interesting but - oh my goodness! - that looks scary and COLD!
We have frequent flood warnings in the spring as the snow melts but fortunately not near our home. I've never seen the ice shelves before... very interesting. Mother Nature is pretty cool sometimes!

Fascinating! I've never see or heard of an ice shelf on a tree. They put up with a lot in winter, haaahaha. xoxo
