Another party

Can you believe, we just had our last Christmas party? Bob's workplace always has their party in January to avoid all the busyness that happens in December.

Here's a picture I took last summer of the store he works at; the True Value in our town.  As you can see, it's a pretty big store.  They have hardware, tools, paint, a large rental area, lawn and garden, appliances and even a sign and printing shop.

The party was in a banquet room of a nearby restaurant.  Here's part of the group before things started.

This is Ross, one of the owners. He had just come from work, so was still in his work clothes.   He was supposed to be giving opening remarks for the party.  Apparently some of the guys had been teasing him that he should do a rap to start things off.  Well - he did!  He wrote this little rap and although people told him not to quit his day job, I thought I would share it with you, because I thought it was pretty cute!

"Yo, Hardware is in our blood, it's what we do.
So I wrote a corny rap that tells about all of you.
We are all so gifted, in so many ways,
and for the way He made us, we give our Creator praise.

Some of us like to tinker, and some like to fix,
while others of us are just trying to avoid conflicts.
We've got staff in the office and cashiers by the doors,
We have boots in the yards and friendly faces on the sales floor.

We have the team doing service and repairing what's broken,
we have the lady's doing signage who are all soft spoken.
We have a team for receiving and for stocking the shelves,
all of this we do for those who like to "do it yourself"!

Thanks for coming to this party, you know what it's going to be,
We're going to be giving praise for living in the land that is free.
We are so very grateful for each person on the staff,
and I know what you are thinking - then pay me time and a half!"

We had a yummy meal!

After the meal they went over some statistics telling how the year went, they recognized staff for how many years they had worked, they honored a former employee who just passed away and thanked the staff members.  They also thanked God for the way He has guided them.  I appreciate the way they show their faith to the community and to the staff.  They start each meeting with prayer and take time to pray for each other, which is not common now.

After that there were some crazy games.  In this one, they had to put a tongue depressor between their teeth, and then stack dice on the end of it.  Whoever had the most at 30 seconds won.  In this round, Bob was the winner with 5 dice stacked up.
It was a fun night and nice to catch up with people there!

Looks like a great celebration! It is so nice that Bob works for a Christian company that gives praise to God. Have a good week. See you again soon!

This was all kinds of fun! Including being thankful to God, who is not usually included in parties. I wonder of the owner of the chain is a Christian. I have never seen such a large Tru Value! I think I will play this dice game with the grandkids!

It sounds like a good company that treats their employees like family. That looked like a good dinner and I bet everyone enjoyed watching that dice game:) Congratulations to Bob for his big win!

Sounds like a nice party. My old workplace used to have fun gatherings a couple times of year, then started dropping things like that when a larger company took ownership. Eventually they stopped sponsoring all events. My hubby's workplace used to do a really nice after-Christmas dinner but again, new ownership and that stopped. They do a bus trip to a baseball game in the summer and a small in-shop 'party' for Christmas. Such a bummer, and it makes your hubby's work party sound so much more special in times like these.

Well that is a really cute song and I love how it gives praise where it is deserved: to God. Amen!!!!! Without Him we do not have the breath in our nostrils, much less anything else. And wow the food looks so delicious! I would have filled half my plate with that BBQ pulled pork or beef -- whichever! And tell Bon I'm not surprised that he's good at loading the dice, haaahaa! xoxo

Looks like Bob has a nice place of work with nice coworkers. I like the speech given by Ross which says a lot of good things also about the owners. They probably set an example of how things should be at their store.

What a great rap, I thought it was good. How cool he works in a Christian company, there are not many of them around!
