Labor Day Reunion

Every year my Dad's family has a reunion on Labor Day. He has an amazing family. There were 5 boys and 5 girls; one girl passed away as a child and his oldest sister passed away a few years ago. There are 8 siblings left, my dad at 81 is the fourth oldest, with four younger siblings.
These siblings have remained close, living in close proximity and in the way they are there for each other. We have always felt blessed to be part of this family.

Here are the remaining siblings. My Dad is the second from the right, in the yellow shirt.
This group loves to goof off and tease. I had a terrible time getting this picture because I was getting funny faces, funny positions, people hiding from the camera and the infamous bunny ears. We have always said that their Mom was a saint to deal with all of them, but I've been told she had a great sense of humor. (I think she is the source of this craziness!)

Now I have to show you a few pictures of the park we always go to. It's beautiful!

This is the back of the building we always rent in case of rain. It fits lots of people, and we fill it up!

"Children's children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children."

Happy Labor Day

In the United States and Canada, we are celebrating Labor Day.
I have this Labor Day off and planned to go to a family picnic, but instead will be taking it easy at home, because I have cellulitis in my ankle. It's much improved from last week though, so this should be the last day of sitting with my foot up!
Hope you all are able to enjoy your day!

Labor Day

Today we had our annual picnic with my Dad's family. He comes from a family of 10. There were 5 boys and 5 girls. One sister died when she was 2 and the oldest sister died about 10 months ago. The others are all living and live fairly close to each other. They have remained a close family and frequently do things together. There are lots of cousins and we remain close also. Here is my Dad (3rd from left) with 3 of his brothers.

There is always plenty of food at these gatherings!

The park we go to every year is beautiful, with a small stream and ponds. It seems every year at least 1 kid gets soaked!
These are 2 of my nieces; Shaelyn and Halle.

Here is Heather (in the middle) with my nieces Chelsea and Katelyn.
We feel that we have really been blessed to be members of this family. All of the brothers and sisters are Christians. All of their kids are Christians and many of the great grandchildren are Christians. These people are not Christians in name only. They show their faith by the way they live and have testified to it when they have gone through hard times. They are also a lot of fun. There is no gathering that does not include lots of laughter and practical jokes! We have often said that our Grandma had her hands full raising this household of pranksters.
