We picked them up after school and went out for supper. We went to Cracker Barrel this time and they had fun in the shopping area and enjoyed the food too.
When we got home they started this project. I had ordered a few little kits to make animals from buttons. However, when the kits arrived, they were just a little bag of buttons and cords. The girls had to try and figure it our from a picture.
After that, we made monkey bread. We all got into our PJ's and watched a movie - 'How to Train a Dragon'. It's an oldie but very cute!
On Saturday morning, we went for a walk. It had rained a lot in the previous days and it was 51 degrees! This little patch of snow was all the remained in our yard. (You know this makes me happy!)
When we got back, we worked on our craft for the day. We made Fairy Gardens. The girls each chose little houses, trees, flowers and even little dogs to put in their gardens.
The cups were a thrift store find, perfect to put a little garden into. My friend Kim is always coming up with fun things to do with thrift store finds, and I was happy to finally do one too!
Here's the finished fairy gardens; Ruby's on the left and Alaina's on the right. They both picked flowers to match the houses they were using. I think they turned out very cute!
It was fun; we're blessed to spend time with these girls!

Hi Mari! I love that "fairy garden" project. Where did you find the little houses? The button animals also look like fun. So glad you had a nice weekend making memories with your granddaughters. They are really growing into beautiful young women! Have a good week. See you again soon!
I cannot figure out how to make things even with directions! So the button animals they made are incredible to me. LOVE the fairy gardens. I have been going to make one, what are you using as a base to keep it on top of the mug?
The girls have grown up in a short time! The crafts they make are really great and carefully made! Have a nice week.
we had a marble game when I was there age, Chinese checkers it was called. the gardens are perfect, and will be so cute in their bedrooms. fantastic job on the button critters. not sure I could do it from a picture. you always have so much fun when they come to visit and the donkey is what I would want to do..
What fun time you had with the girls...and you always amaze me at the crafty that goes on at your home. Great job on the animals and fairy gardens! We use to play that marble game too. Janice
Great to hear that you all got to spend some time together. I love the crafts, especially the fairy gardens. They turned out SO cute.
What a fun time with your girlies! The little animals they created are adorable. They were certainly creative to figure out how to put the cords and buttons together to make the animals. Monkey bread...yum! Loved the little fairy gardens they created and what a fun way to display them in the thrift store find cups! Is the marble game by any chance Aggravation or is it just called the marble game? It's a really nice game board!
We are beginning to see green around here, too. Green is such a beautiful color, don't you think? :)
Mari, you are truly blessed. You have such delightful granddaughters.
Those craft projects are wonderful and kudos to figuring out how to make the animals from the buttons. I don't think I could have done it.
Yay for spring coming to your place finally.
(((hugs)))
Sue
Such treasured time with those sweet Angels of yours. 💗💗
I'm so impressed they figured out those button animal crafts- wow! And you know the fairy one completely has my heart. I'm tucking that one away to do someday. I sure love how you all have fun. We still have some piles but it is so nice to finally see lots of snow melting. Spring dreaming is going strong over here! Lol Blessings on your week ahead. xo
I just love the crafts you do with your granddaughters!

Looks like you had such a fun and enjoyable weekend with the girls! You are blessed to have them nearby and also that they still enjoy coming to visit and doing fun things with you. I love the little fairy teacups. That looks like a fun project. Where did you get the tiny little pieces for them? I am looking forward to meeting you soon! What a fun time that will be! Meanwhile, take care and rest up for your trip! See you soon!
What a lovely time you all had.
I do like the squirrel and turtle and those fairy gardens look amazing.
All the best Jan
I both love the fairy gardens and what they made with the buttons! I didn't know you could use buttons that way!
You guys always do the best things together! I'm glad you were able to get outside, now that the snow has mostly melted. I'm crossing my fingers that that's the last of it!! I love the fairy mugs...that's a genius thrift store upcycle!! SO creative and an idea I may have to copy. Thank you for the mention, too. That was very sweet...I'm grinning and blushing over here! 🥰
Both projects turn out beautifully! It must have been a very nice time with the girls, they are growing so quickly!
Good job putting the button animals together with o instructions. I'm impressed.
Great closeup shot of the horse eating the apple slice?
What is the marble game? I Googled but it just kept taking me to regular marbles we used to play on the ground.
Your visits with the girls always sund like so much fun.
Aww, I love these girls! So glad you get to do these special things with them while they still have time to do them and are still nearby.
You always have so much fun with those girls!
I am always thrilled to see what Ruby and Alaina come up with in craft time! Those cup fairy gardens are SO CUTE. I sent this post to Audrey and Erica so they could see them. Sounds like a great activity for a sweltering or rainy day when the kids are better off staying indoors! xoxo 🏴☠️
