Building a deck!

You may remember that last fall we had two windows removed and a slider door installed in their place.

This is what the back of the house looked like in September before the door was installed.

And here it is after it was put in.

A deck was needed but it was too late in the year and we had to wait for nice weather to do that.

We ordered the supplies and they came last week.  Bob's been working like crazy on it!

Digging up the sod and putting in support pillars and beams.

Adding landscape fabric and crushed concrete underneath.

Building the base

Starting to add the decking!

Building steps

All done!

The view from the back yard.

Here's the finished product!  There's a little bubbler fountain on the right that still needs to be hooked up.  We're looking forward to some nice times on this deck.

Gosh - the slider door made such a positive difference!!! And now the gorgeous deck. He certainly did a great job and I know you will enjoy the deck all season!

I am impressed! He really has a talent for building things. Will you be grilling on it? The house looks so much better with the door as well, it breaks up the straight line of windows.

That door and the deck are perfect! I would have to sit out there with morning coffee and just breathe in the fresh air. Y'all are gonna enjoy that for years. Well done. 💖💖

I have always liked decks but we have a slab foundation. Your home is so nice and the deck, just adds more. It will be another nice place to sit. Ha, it seems the older we get, we sure like to sit, don’t we?
Bob does excellent work - I appreciate carpentry and being able to do things.
Now get out there and enjoy!

Wow, this deck and the door completely changed the way the back of the house looks. It's beautiful and he is truly talented to build it...do you have plans to add railings, like with flower boxes? just sayin.. ha ha

I think it needs a glider or one of those free standing swings... I do love a swing. the one Dan and Michelle gave us when we moved in this house with a pool, finally kicked the bucket at age 30..

That was fun to see! We've been talking with Frank about replacing our little side porch with a deck and ramp. Also, I would like to replace my dining room window with a slider that would open to the deck. I always said that whoever designed this house wasn't thinking. Why would we want a slider in the livingroom instead of the dining room? It makes so much more sense to have a deck and slider on the same side of the house as the kitchen and diningroom. Like our Lititz house. I'm sure you will love love sitting out there.

Mari this is just beautiful and excellent and of course so amazingly done! I LOVE that it's raised up over the ground it sits on! And such a pretty addition to your house! Just wonderful. I just think that Bob should have got that done before my visit. Haaahahahahahahaaaaa don't do it again xoxo
