A Day in my Life - June

It's June and I'm happy to see it arrive!
Here's how I spent this first day of the month.

The morning started out sunny, but only 40 degrees when I got up!

Here we are on the way to church, sun shining and it's warming up.

It's a little before 10 and we're pulling into church.  We had a good message on God's grace.

After church we had a start of summer picnic.  Everyone brought a salad or dessert and some of the guys grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.

The kids were having fun playing games on the lawn.
We had a great time and got home shortly after 2.

A friend at church brought a heritage rhubarb plant to church for me, so when we got home, Bob got it planted and we hope it does well!

We had a quiet afternoon, Bob took a short nap and I worked on photos I had taken for the church newsletter.

After supper, we took our usual walk around the yard. We see something new blooming most every day.  Right now, the Japanese iris are in full bloom, and behind them you can see the white clematis.

Our first knock out rose of the season!

We have little spot in back where Bob planted wildflower seeds. These little pansies are back there.

So was this little flower!  We looked it up and it's a type of columbine.

The woodlands garden is so peaceful.

After our walk, we came in and watched 'Lewis', a British detective show which follows the show 'Morse', a series we just finished.  We do like those British shows!

And that ends June 1, another blessed day!

What a great way to celebrate such a beautiful day! I played catch up here - did ALL my filing, cleaned the utility room, two loads of laundry washed, dried, put away, straightened up kitchen shelves and sorted books for little libraries.

Hi Mari, what a wonderful, well spent day you had! Your photos are beautiful! Church potlucks are so much fun! I have tasted some of the best dishes from ladies in the church, and I got a few good recipes to make myself!
Thank you so much for sharing your day in your post and lovely photos.

I love the British detective shows! We subscribe to Britbox. Your yard is gorgeous! Oh, the color of the Japanese Iris! I knew what they were even from a distance. Your Pansies are so cute! I have not seen a Columbine this color, but I can tell that it is by the shape.

I love your church and wish we had something like that here - I am sure we do, but to find it.
I am surprised your soil is brown and dry. I would think you had rich black soil.
I have to say your walk around the garden - what you and your family have created is just breath taking. Lovely.

What a wonderful day for a church social. It was a bit cool here, but not complaining. Loved seeing the wildflowers. Yesterday Tundra and I took a ride North an hour to get Bob ink for our store printer. He ran out at the store and needed it badly. Janice

your yard is amazing, and what a wonderful, beautiful and blessed Sunday you had... we always called eating after church, Dinner on the Grounds... when it first started it was outside, but then we built the big room for weddings and dinners and moved it in the air conditioned/heated building

Your place is so pretty. What a lovely day that must have been. It's pretty here too only dry. We need rain somethin' fierce. I'm having to run sprinklers every other day to keep everything alive.
I like British TV also. I found one with several episodes on YouTube called, "Forever Green". It's not a detective show. It's kinda sweet and low key and about a couple with children who move from the city (London, I think) to the country. I enjoyed it. 🌻

Ditto to all saying your yard is amazing!! I would love to sit on that garden bench some day!! :) Our church stops the monthly potlucks because it is too hot to eat outside. Our gatherings are on the covered veranda from September to May. I always enjoy going on your walk around your beautiful yard. xo

What a wonderful start to the month! That church picnic sure looked fun. My rhubarb is starting to go crazy now but I want it a bit bigger before I harvest it to make some good things. :) I love the garden tours so much! That columbine is so neat - I don't know that I've ever seen one like that before. I love British shows too and need to get Matt onto liking them so I can justify getting Brit box. Lol

Mari, it was very nice spending a day in your life . . . and tagging along as you walked through our incredible garden. I love all the flowers and that bench in the woods is wonderful. It reminded me of my childhood. I used to take drawing paper and crayons and go into the woods, find a log to sit on and spend some wonderful quiet time there.

I'll have to check out "Lewis." I enjoy those British mysteries as well.
Our church had a "School's Out" bash last night complete with free pizza and ice cream. I didn't go but I'm sure they had a great turn out. Have a good week.

Your yard is lovely. We spent the past two Sundays at home watching the service from Western NY where our youngest lives. LOVE the pastor but our lil grandboy was dedicated last week. This week Pastor Bill spoke on the Holy Sprit and I LOVE those sermons.I am hopeful when we visit again we will be able to meet him & his family.
