Tip for Tuesday

Our refrigerator freezer is the type with 2 doors that open on the top, and a pull out freezer on the bottom.  I don't know if any of you have this issue, but things get lost in that bottom section. Everything is piled on everything else making it very frustrating to find things.
I was looking for a better way to organize it and found some freezer baskets.  I bought this set from Amazon for $31 dollars.  (I'm not getting paid for this, just showing you which set worked for me.)

This is what they look like; the handles flip up to be able to get them in and out easily.

And here's how they fit into the freezer.  I have one for meats, one for veggies and one for breads.  We have a pull out drawer over this one where the ice maker is and there's room for other assorted things.
This has made a huge difference in keeping things organized.  If you have this same issue, you may want to check out freezer baskets.

You have done a great job organizing things, Mari. I have a two door fridge with the top door being the freezer.

I always wanted that type of refrigerator but it jutted out too far into the kitchen after we measured. I was so disappointed but glad I measured! That is why I always had an upright freezer. Much easier to deal with.

Good tip! 👍🏻

I have the same type as you. One side is mine, and the other side is my daughter's. Mine looks much neater! lol

We don't have this kind of fridge. But this is a great idea, and I use several bins in our refrigerator.

Excellent work Marie,
I had a freezer and had the same problem.
I bought a basket like that and it kind of solved the problem, but with this set you will be saved!!

I used to have a chest freezer and freezer baskets were the bomb to keeping things organized and accessing the bottom layer of the freezer!

That sounds like a game-changer. Freezer baskets are such a smart solution for taming the chaos, and it's great to hear how well they worked for your setup

I have the same sort of fridge I have drawers inside for ice but the vegetable bags are always in a mess in the drawer so I may have a look to organise my drawer.
Thank you for sharing

Hi, Mari!
That is a great sugestion! There is a YouTube channel I follow, where she has a fridge like yours and she also has amazing storage solutions. It's called Scandish Home!

We use to have our freezer at the bottom, now it is is on the side. Had the same issue though with the one at the bottom. Great idea to tackle what you have. Janice

super idea, now all I need is a freezer big enough to use the baskets. mine is the cheapest fridge they had and way to tiny. even tiny the things I do have are hard to find and what I want is on the bottom

great purchase and I appreciate you sharing this. I was cleaning out a portion of our freezer yesterday and was a tad bit stressed because things seemed so unorganized. Now...I know what I can do...Thanks Mari..

That looks very nice. I tried to get a bottom freezer when we first moved in here but could not find one narrow enough for the space it needed to go in to. I'm glad I didn't because the island is about 3 feet away from the refrigerator so it would be kind of awkward. So my freezer is a bit narrow but easier to keep organized! Not that mine is, mind you, I'm just saying!

When we moved to this house 18 years ago, I definitely wanted a fridge with the freezer part below. The freezer has built in "baskets" and it helps to keep the meats and larger items separated from the small things. Baskets are sure the way to go. Even with them I find things get "lost" on the bottom.

I have two refrigerators and both have the freezers on top. However, I have plastic bins for the fridge that I can pull out like a drawer. The shelves are deep and jars of 'stuff' get lost in the back of the shelves, so the bins allow me to pull them out. Sometimes it's a pain, but it does let me get to everything without sitting on the floor! LOL I guess we all just make things work for us!

Thank you for the heads up on the freezer baskets. They certainly allow for much organization.

I have the same type of refrigerator but mine came with dividers in it. I don't keep a whole lot of stuff in the freezer part because we have a stand up freezer in the garage.

Would you believe I just cleaned out the bottom drawer of our freezer, and uncovered so much stuff?? Thanks for the idea!!! And have a good week, my friend.

I do have the freezer at the bottom and issues with keeping track of everything sometimes. I like this idea.

That does look very organized.
I just have a regular old fashioned refrigerator with one door and the freezer at the top with another door.

Those are nice baskets. Yes so many things get lost in the freezer. Thanks for sharing.

Those would be very helpful. My refrigerator sounds like yours and that freezer does not seem as daunting to me because we purchased a chest freezer last year. (This is for the overflow freezing). I had only owned an upright freezer until then. And talk about getting things lost! I have a basket and several boxes, but those baskets you have sound as if they might help even more. Thank you.
