Button Trees and unicorn nails!

The girls spent the night Friday night and we had such fun together!
They love to do crafts, and I love to find easy ones that we can do together.  I saw a cute idea for a button ornament that was a fun one for us to do.

I found a bunch of green and white buttons, and one that was a star. We arranged them from big to small with the star at the top.

Then we took a 12 inch wire, put the star in the middle and bent it in half.

The buttons were strung onto the two pieces of wire, from small to big.  At the bottom was a brown bead to look like the tree trunk.  The wire was then twisted and cut.  One of the cut pieces was twisted into a swirl and attached at the top to make an ornament hanger.

Here are 2 proud little girls with their finished ornaments.

After making the ornaments we had one more fun thing to do.  The girls love getting their nails done, and they love unicorns, so when I saw this purple, shimmery polish I knew it would be a hit.

I did both girls nails and they were thrilled with this color.

They even sat quietly and waited for it to dry.
What a fun afternoon!

Some of my favorite memories of my two older cousins were when they took the time to do my nails. I was a little girl and they were my teen idols. Such fun. I love the little button tree ornaments!

Those button ornaments are cute and crafty. I remember my maternal grandmother had a huge jar which she saved buttons in. I loved looking at and making things with them. I used to thread them to make necklaces and bracelets. It’s wonderful you are sharing your imagination and talent with your grandchildren

The button ornaments look good and relatively simple to do.

How cute the ornaments are and what a fun day. When my granddaughter was little I would find little craft kits at Michaels for $1.00 and they were fun to do. Look at those beautiful smiles and purple nails!

Oh my goodness! That is the cutest craft! I must do this with Dagny immediately. Tomorrow I will go and gather the materials. Maybe I'll get enough buttons to make trees with Allissa and Melanie too, when they come next week for Melly's birthday. And Ruby's face when she holds up her ornament! Too adorable. I don't know how you keep from just pinching those cheeks and kissing her to death. The unicorn polish -- now that's genius. I won't tell Dag about that, haaahaha! xoxo

I love this craft, Mari. So cute, and Alaina/Ruby did awesome. So cute!

We've only done one simple craft so far; things have been in a turmoil. But, I'm hoping maybe next week I can visit with the greats for more.

Those little fingernails look cute; it's funny how they love the unicorn - it seems to be the "in" thing as Rylan likes them too. :)

xoxo
