Did you know May is Military Appreciation Month? I've always appreciated our Military but since Andy is in the Army it's become more personal. I saw an article in a magazine that listed a few ways to let the troops know you care. Here's their suggestions for this month:
- Fly the flag at your house or business
- send an e-mail or letter of thanks to Amillionthanks.org
- ship a care package to a soldier through Uso.org/donate
- write a message at Americasupportsyou.mil
- thank a veteran for their service
- if you know a member of the military be sure to thank them
Don't forget to let the troops know you care!

Those are great ideas!
YaY! for our Military- and thanks to Andy for his service
i'm sure you won't mind to pass along all our thanks to Andy, and to the rest of your family (and of course a big 'thanks' to you!)
I had forgotten that this is in May! I am glad you posted!
seems like july is usually the only time we as americans pay tribute or think more about our freedom. thanks for the spurring on of what is so lacking in encouragement these days!
and thank you sweet lady for raising a son who is willing to fight for my family's freedom!
This is a test. My first comment was not processed.
Thanks for letting us know about Military Appreciation Month. Some great ideas to show our thanks. It would be terrific if schools organized writing projects for the kids to thank soldiers during this month. Thanks to Andy and all those brave ones out there for us :)
Thanks for the heads up. I'll go put my flag up now.
i did not know that ...
will have to think about what I should do ...
great suggestions !
Mari,great posting.
That you for the message of support that you left me.
Thanks for letting us know, and for the suggestions!
Yes, it has become much more personal for me the past two years as well. Great suggestions.
Mari,
Every month is Military Appreciation Month in this house. However, I'm so glad you posted this. I just learned that there was an official appreciate month when I was visiting Airman Mom's blog.
How is Andy doing? I'm so glad he got home for a few days and know that you enjoyed his company.
Have a great Sunday, my friend.
Blessings,
Mary
I did not know about this! I'm so glad that another blogger gave me the opportunity to contribute to a "care" package for a soldier in Iraq, and that I sent some things. You're right about it being so different when it's personal. My Andrew (an Air National Guard reservist) will be home for a few weeks tomorrow, but the Air Force is sending him for additional training for the rest of the summer. I am so thankful for our brave men and women in uniform! God bless America.
