When Alaina started school we started a tradition of Grandma taking her out shopping for some new shoes, and just having a fun time together. When Ruby started school, she came along. This year, Cassie is starting preschool and the older girls said we had to all go shopping together.
Since school starts this week, we had our shopping day last week.
Laura took this photo of all of us before we left.
They wanted Chik-fil-A for lunch.
This Chik-fil-A had a play area so we spent a little time there. (Cassie would have stayed all afternoon if we let her!)
Our last stop of the day was at the frozen yogurt place.
Cassie said "Maybe we can come back tomorrow?"
One more picture when we got back to Laura. The sun was shining in our eyes!
After leaving Alaina and Ruby, I took Cassie home. She was sad to leave the girls - she thinks they are the best!
Shortly after I got home, this happened. I've mentioned that we've had an official drought going on, with the lowest amount of rainfall on record. We'd had 1.5 inches since June 1.
On this day we had 2.25 inches! We were so thankful for this rain. It was a great day from start to finish!

Mari, what beautiful and heartwarming photos of you and the girls! Cassie's shoes look lovely. Ruby's and Alaina's as well! Looks like a lovely time together or shopping and bonding! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Mari! It's wonderful that you got some rain. We are still dry as a bone here and we desperately need rain. I think that taking your granddaughters shopping for school is a wonderful tradition! Such fun and good memories! Have a good week. See you again soon!
I absolutely love that tradition, Mari, and your granddaughters are just darling. Congrats on the rain :)
Cassie sure is growing up. I remember those times when she tried to spend the night but she just missed her mommy and daddy too much. Now look at her, hanging with her cousins and not wanting it to end. It makes my heart happy and a little sad - they grow up too fast.
That’s a sweet tradition you do with the girls. Like I say, making precious memories are worth more than anything.
Oh that rain looks so nice. I’m looking forward to our rainy season - around Oct/Nov. We haven’t had rain since April.
Cassie looks like she is having the time of her life! What a great before school tradition. All the shoes are really nice, and Alaina's look like Converse. They are popular around here and I just bought our granddaughter a pair. The photos of the four of you are really good!
Looks like your grands had a great time. It is so much easier when they are young and they are easy to please. Glad that you got rain. We sure need it over here. Have a great week, Mari!
I have the same tradition with my grandblessings! I always take them to get new clothes and shoes. My grandson is the shoe person and couldn’t care less about clothes. My granddaughter wants it all and then some! Funny story…we always have chick-fila too!
Such a lovely tradition! Looks like you had a lovely time!
What a fun tradition and now, even more fun with Cassie joining in! You are looking great, my friend! I enjoyed all of the pictures...and really like Ruby's shoes. They look so comfortable.
So thankful that the Lord sent you the rain that you needed.
I think your back-to-school shopping trip is such a fun tradition!! It was sweet of Alaina and Ruby to want Cassie to join in this year. It looks like a very successful time together, with new shoes, new tops, good food, and lots of loving memories!! So happy you got that good rain!! Hoping there is more coming for you! Have a blessed week ahead!!
Awwwwww Mari, what beautiful *beautiful* pictures....and memories!! These are the memories that, I always say, keep our bones warm when the cold winds of winter blow. Thank you for sharing. I got tears in my eyes (good tears) while looking & reading your post today. Much love, Andrea xoxo
First of all, you have beautiful granddaughters. How sweet you get their shoes for school.
How fun it is to go girl shopping. I would love that.
I am so glad you got rain too.
Great day!
Y'all are so cute! That's a great tradition. I'll bet they carry that on with their children and grands. So sweet. 😍😍
Oh my ... I want to be one of your grandkids too. Love everything you did for that special time and what a wonderful tradition you have established. Great shoes for all and yummy eats too.
PTL on finally getting some rain, well not actually Some but 2.25 inches is a lot at one time. Your thirsty plants I'm sure were rejoicing.
Sue
