An afternoon at the lake

One of the members of our small group at church has a cottage on a lake about an hour north of us.  Sunday after church we drove up there and spent the afternoon enjoying the beauty around us, and each others company.

Such a pretty view!

We saw these pretty hydrangeas while we were taking a walk.

I love the vibrant green of this moss.

Someone had put up several of these arches a long time ago.  This one says "Today is the first day of the rest of your life".

These kids were having a good time on the raft.

My friend Becky had to check out this truck in the play area.

There was time for a boat ride, a few women tried out the paddle boat too.  I'm a land lover - I stayed on shore!

The water lilies look pretty, even when they aren't blooming!

One last view of the lake!  What a nice day.

You take such great pictures, Mari! Is that arch made of wood or stone? It does look really old. I learned the hard way on a paddle boat. Only go far enough that it won't kill your legs to get back!

A nice day indeed. And I must say, Becky is my kind of gal!!! Those arches would be interesting to read 'em all.

I grew up at one end of Buckeye Lake, in Ohio, and we always had a boat to get out on the water in. I miss the water. Your friends have a lovely place to get away to. A blessing indeed!

So pretty! We used to live on a lake and I just loved it. That's the main thing I miss since we moved 9 years ago. ...sigh...

Lovely! Makes me miss my sister Janet's house at Lake Mead, PA. Boat rides were always part of being there. Sometime I hope to go there again.

Such a beautiful place to spend the afternoon. I love the arches, they would make a great place to take photos of people with a sort of frame around them. xx

I am glad that you all took advantage of the good weather and spent a day together. I don't care much for water. Now if it is in the birdbath, I like it.

What a lovely day! There's just something about being near a body of water, isn't there? Friends who have a house on Lake Michigan in Ludington have let us use it a number of times over the years and it is, to this day, my favorite place on earth. Maybe because we always go in the off season and we're often the only ones around, but the peace and quiet is wonderful! We didn't get to go the last time we were in the U.S. (not enough time) and I missed it!

Wow! What a great day at the lake. I think that's what God meant when he told us to enjoy a Sabboth's day rest. Worship and rest. I hope to make some connections here soon.
