The Nativity Story

I know it's almost Christmas and it's a busy time, but I want to recommend a movie to you. We watched this movie tonight and really enjoyed it. It really helps you to realize what is was like living under Herrod's rule, and why the people of that time were so anxious to have their promised Messiah come and rescue them. It also made me think a little more about the stigma attached to Mary and Joseph when people realized she was pregnant. Watching her riding miles on a donkey when she was near term looked miserable. Of course, it is just a movie, so the details can't be taken literally, but we thought it followed the Bible closely. I thought it helped put the focus back on Jesus birth, instead of parties and presents! I bought this, so any of you that know me are welcome to borrow it - just let me know!

We just watched this for the first time today with the kids. It was really good. We have the one from church right now so maybe I need to give it to Cheri.

Josh and Caleb watched this at youth a few weeks ago. Caleb said he had some questions about the story. I haven't watched it yet but I intend to get it over the Holiday. I told Caleb we could watch it together and I would try to answer his question.
I can't wait to see it

Mari,

Great minds think alike..WE WATCHED IT LAST NIGHT TOO! My husband and I made it a two-evening family event with our children. What a blessing it was to us. I saw it last year in the movie theatre and it was just as powerful this year. I think that this may become a new tradition in our family each Christmas...to watch the TRUE reason for the season.

Blessings! Joanne

We actually bought that movie recently and haven't watched it...maybe tonight would be a great night to do that (while everyone is here at our house!) or...we can watch it just the four of us when everyone leaves tomorrow.

Thanks for the great reminder!

I watched this movie twice over the holiday season. The first time I was interrupted, so last night I watched it again. It was truly amazing and I really enjoyed it.

Blessings,
Mary
