There is a house not far from me that planted a bunch of sunflowers. I pass them nearly every day and they make me smile.
Isn't this a cheerful flower?
Here's the whole patch of them. I think sunflowers are like country folk - not pretentious, but mellow, homey and upright!

I love sunflowers but have never grown them. Should try sometime.
Sunflowers are my daughter's favorite flower... My husband told me that she sneaked out into my flower beds and planted about 5 or 6 in different places... (he wasn't suppose to tell me)... we went so long without rain right after she planted them.. that they struggled to peep through the soil.. no sunflowers this year... maybe she will try that again sometime...
While seeing 1 makes me smile, seeing whole rows of them makes me really happy!!!
jay told me one of the things he's always wanted to do is to have romantical pictures taken in a garden of sunflowers. i agree with you, there is something about them that's really homey.
They are the happiest looking flower! I plant them every year, but I got them in a little late this year. They are just now looking like they are ready to bloom.
They are lovely and quite unpretentious. I have a mug with a big sunflower on it on my kitchen counter that I keep pens in. I also have a pen with an artificial sunflower on the tip sticking out of the mug. Sunshine every day!:>)
Love sunflowers, maybe because I love yellow.
Mari- Thank you for your kind words. I am sure it will be better when he is there too. Thanks !!!
I have sunflowers accenting my kitchen. I sure would like the real kind and not the fake ones. :o) They make my heart smile. :o)
VERY Homey! Love them!
How pretty, bright and cheerful. Hope you have a nice weekend, Mari.
I <3 sunflowers. :-D
Huge blossom!!! And I really like your comparison of sunflowers/country folk. As for a sunflower, I like the fact that the blossom 'follows' the sun during the day.
just like country folk! haha...I love that! There is a sunflower farm not too far from us. I've never stopped to take a picture...you've inspired me!
We passed a patch of sunflowers when we were in the upstate the other day. I really wanted to tell TG to turn around but the kids were following us in Andrew's car and I didn't think they'd appreciate that. I missed my shot! The light was just right too. I won't let that happen again.
