Andy's leave

Well, our time with Andy has come to an end. We so enjoyed having him around for these few weeks. He's on his way back to Kentucky now, where he will be based at Fort Campbell.
It's nice that he will be close enough to make the occasional trip home. It takes about 9 hours.
I thought I would share a few pictures of our time with him.

This is a typical Andy picture. He is always goofing off and teasing us. You see the expression on his face due to the fact that I am taking his picture...

When Andy is home, we have a lot of family gatherings. This is from a party celebrating my Dad's 81st birthday.

I have to throw in this cute picture of Alaina!

Bob's sisters were over to visit Andy, but had to have their picture taken with Alaina. This is his sister Diane.

And Alaina spent a lot of time here. She and Andy had a good time getting to know each other and I'm thinking that Andy will miss her most of all!

Haha, I love how there's more pictures of Alaina than Andy, even when Andy LOVES his picture being taken. It's nice that he won't be so far away from now on, a much easier goodbye than last time. But we will still miss him.

Awwww, saying goodbye is hard but at least Andy isn't as far away.

Does Alaina have any grouchy moments? She looks like she is always happy!

Awwwwwwww, another 'melt my heart' post Mari. She is just so sweet and adorable. Love the striped outfit of hers when she's on Andy's lap.

Some great pictures! I'm so glad Andy will be close enough to visit. One of these times when you come through my state, we'll have to connect. :)

I was thinking about you last night when I saw coverage of the Michigan tornado. I hope you stayed safe!

Have a wonderful weekend!

What a great set of photos! I'm glad you all had such a wonderful time. 9 hours away still sounds a long way to me!

Sorry your time has to end so soon but it is so nice knowing that he is only 9 hours away instead of half way around the world!

Thank you, Lord, for family love and for memories to keep us going between times. And for better ways of staying in touch than we used to have.

Does Andy know how long he will remain in the army? Thyda re-enlisted for another four years in the Navy. Ray finished his four years and is going to school, but I think he's joining the National Guard now. Jenn has been in the army as long as I've known her. I think she was in Afghanistan several times as a medic. Now she has a federal tech position at the base and plans to make it her career.

Very cute pics. She does love her Uncle Andy!

Well, you know how I feel about my uncles so I can only guess that Alaina and Andy will be close throughout their lives. What a great influence Andy will be on her. He is an American hero and she can look up to him as such! I know Aaron and Laura will teach her early what that means.

From the last photo, you can tell Alaina definitely takes after your family! She and her Uncle Andy favor one another quite a bit :)
