Interesting facts on the human body

I recently came across this list of facts about the human body that I thought was quite interesting. The intricate way in which each part of our body works together really shows the greatness of our Creator!
.
~Scientists say the higher your I.Q. the more you dream.
~The largest cell in the human body is the female egg and the smallest is the male sperm.
~You use 200 muscles to take one step.
~The average woman is 5 inches shorter than the average man.
~Your big toes have two bones each while the rest have three.
~A pair of human feet contain 250,000 sweat glands.
~A full bladder is roughly the size of a soft ball.
~The acid in your stomach is strong enough to dissolve razor blades.
~The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica.
~It takes the food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
~The average human dream lasts 2-3 seconds
~At the moment o f conception, you spent about half an hour as a single cell.
~There is about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
~Your body gives off enough heat in 30 minutes to bring half a gallon of water to a boil.
~The enamel in your teeth is the hardest substance in your body.
~Your teeth start growing 6 months before you are born.
~When you are looking at someone you love, your pupils dilate, they do the same when you are looking at someone you hate.
~Blondes have more hair than dark-haired people.
~Your thumb is the same length of your nose.An individual blood cell takes about 60 seconds to make a complete circuit of the body.
~Every square inch of the human body has an average of 32 million bacteria on it.
~Every person has a unique tongue print.
~Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.
~Three-hundred-million cells die in the human body every minute.
~The feet account for one quarter of all the human bodies bones.
~On average women say 7,000 words per day. Men manage just over 2,000.

.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

That is really Cool! I have a question though, if my brain holds 5 times more then The Encyclopedia Britannica why do I forget so much!!!

That is really interesting! I wonder how they found out about the tongue print! lol

I read this once before but it is always a good reminder of how God made us with so much detail, more than we will ever really discover.

I dream heaps and heaps, you'd think I'd have a great IQ wouldn't you? Hee hee. I think we all need to keep laughing like six year olds - I was only thinking yesterday of the great laughing escapades I used to have as a teen and in my twenties..sure I've had great moments since then, some hilarious ones, but I definately used to find any excuse for a good belly laugh when I was younger.

Loved all the interesting facts. The human body is very complexed. It is amazing how it all works and how if one little thing is off kilter things can happen. I also think how amazing it is that we are put together. God is mighty, all powerful and funny. Did you let them use your tongue for the demo? LOL

This is pretty amazing stuff, but then again, how we are put together is pretty amazing! How could anyone believe in evolution or the Big Bang theory knowing these facts! God certainly is an awesome God!

Fascinating facts. Our God is an awesome creator!

Loved this! You just know that I had to measure the length of my thumb against my nose! Yep, it's the same, now I have to go have my husband do the same...I'm sure he'll be thrilled to cooperate!

I love reading facts like that. I do think that my dreams last a lot longer though! There's no way that we just evolved - our bodies are way too complicated!
(I checked my nose size too)

That was fun. I don't know about the IQ one though- I dream alot and I don't think my IQ is all that high!
Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks for sharing this, Mari. It was fun to read! And definitely awe inspiring.

God must have had a great time making man, and planning all these little miracles.

I wonder how many people, while reading this, put their thumbs to their noses. I did.

Thanks for sharing this Mari. Those were really interesting to read....and I admit, I actually took my thumb and measured it on my nose to make sure it was the same size LOL

Those are so interesting. When we were in South Carolina we watched a show about what happens in the womb from conception to birth and WOW was that amazing. The most amazing thing to me, is that they showed this little group of cells which started off as one and has been rapidly multiplying, and suddenly, the heart just started beating on its own. The mom didn't make it do that, the baby certainly didn't make it's own heart just start like that - but "someone" must have started it! That was so, so cool to see. Our bodies really are amazing. Thanks for sharing those!

Mari,

Thank you for sharing the human body trivia. I certainly enjoyed it. Imagine using 200 muscles every time you take a step. We should be losing weight and building muscle as we walk. It doesn't work that way for me. LOL

Take care and thanks so much for commenting on my post today. Have a great day.

Blessings,
Mary

One- I LOVED this post.

Two- I bet I wasn't the only one who read this and put her thumb to her nose... :)

Three- as I read about children laughing 300 times a day and adults laughing less than 100 my children errupted in laughter proving that one to be true.

Mari --

Some of those "facts" are suspect. In particular, "The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica."

Perhaps the entire brain might, but not a "brain cell."

One of your commenters said, "How could anyone believe in evolution or the Big Bang theory knowing these facts!"

The human body is indeed a thing of wonder, and it only gets more wondrous the more one learns how it really works. The Catholic church has no objection to evolutionary theory. If the Pope can reconcile it, maybe you can too.

I guess some people like to watch the magician's trick and think "that is amazing!" and stop there. Others are curious to know how the trick was done; knowledge of the trick only enhances the respect for the act. As beautiful as an old oak tree might be, the greater story is held within the activity of each cell.

Normally I wouldn't bother to present the other viewpoint, but since you are so forward with your Christian identity, I thought it was OK to come forward with my beliefs.
