This is a recipe I made recently to bring to a family from church who had a new baby. This is something that's kid friendly but also liked by adults. It's easy to make, and freezes well, so when I make it for us, I split it and freeze half.
Grandma's Pasta Hot Dish
1 pound ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 teaspoon dried garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 jars of your favorite marinara sauce
8 ounces cream cheese softened
1 cup sour cream
1 bag thin egg noodles, cooked as directed
12 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
Dried parsley for garnish
Brown and drain the ground beef with the chopped onion. Stir in the garlic, salt and pepper. Then add the marinara sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes.
While that simmers, stir together the cream cheese and sour cream. Grease a 9x13 pan. Spread 1/2 of the cooked egg noodles into the pan, then dot with 1/2 of the sour cream/cream cheese mix.
Spread 1/2 of the meat mix over top and then 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese.
Repeat layers - noodles, cream cheese mix, meat, mozzarella. Then sprinkle the grated parmesan over top.
Bake covered for 30 minutes at 350 degrees, then remove foil and bake another 15 minutes. Sprinkle dried parsley over top to garnish.

A great potluck go to. Looks good. Janice
Must be delicious!
Ohh that looks good.
Hi Mari, that looks so delicious! I would never have thought to use egg noodles, but how clever. Sometimes I get a craving for lasagna but don't have the lasagna noodles in the pantry. I also would have not thought to use cream cheese or sour cream, but I bet it adds a lot of flavor as well as creaminess. I am having a couple of rest days as I had to have my 2 osteoporosis injections this week. They always make me feel bad for a couple of days. Not terrible, but flu like symptoms a bit of fever and extra bone pain. Next year won't be so bad because I won't need them every month and go back to my regular infusions twice a year. So Hubby is cooking today. I think hot dogs are on the menu and air fried onion rings. :). They are actually my MIL favorite so she is going to be happy. Thank you for your sweet comment today and I hope you have a happy day ahead! :)
I simply love anything with noodles. Totally into pasta and cheesy food. I know that the family will be so happy to have a ready to heat meal. New babies are very time consuming.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sue

This sounds like a perfect cozy hot dish for this time of year. I need to give it a try and bring half to my Mom and step Dad. Thanks for sharing! 😋
I appreciate your recipes. I admit that I am struggling to come up with things to cook lately!
