We're a week into September already! So, I'm a little late this month, but here's how I spent the first day of this month. It was Labor Day, but we had no plans to go out, just a project we were working on.
Then it was back upstairs to get ready for the day and to have breakfast. I'm a real creature of habit and have a boiled egg most every morning for breakfast.
Then it was time for Bob and I to start working on the project of the day. We had to wait for the temps to go up a little because we would be working outside. When we got up it was only 58 degrees.
This is a storage shed Bob has been working hard on! He had reached the point of being ready to paint the exterior, so shortly after 10 we were out there, ready to get the first coat on.
Shortly after 12 we were done and came in for lunch.
I love this glass cleaner that I get from Amazon. It smells amazing, and wipes clean with no streaks. (I don't get anything for sharing this, just like to share what works for me)
I took a walk around the yard and noticed the sedum are starting to change color. The bees love them!
The Rose of Sharon bushes are beautiful right now. Ginny from Let Your Light Shine asked me to show the 3 colors we have growing in our yard. My favorite is the white.
Around 3 we went out and put another coat of paint on the shed. It's painted the same color as our house.
When the work on the shed was done, Bob grilled a few burgers for our supper.
To finish the evening, we watched this movie. I read the book several years ago and enjoyed it so when a friend said she had a DVD we could borrow I took her up on it. We both thought it was a good one.
It was a really good day; beautiful weather, lots accomplished and a nice evening together.

Dear Mari, your photos are lovely! And thank you so much for sharing about your project! You have given me the motivation to begin my Autumn cleaning and organizing. I just started it a couple of days ago but after seeing your post and photos, I am determined to continue!
What a lovely home you have and that shed Bob built is really nice. I like the color as well and good idea matching it to the house. The flowers look nice in your garden. Wow 58 degrees is a bit cool.
I can already feel time slipping through my fingers as it gets closer to the holidays.
Such a productive day! The shed is wonderful! It looks so nice and I am sure the storage will be welcome. You have such a pretty home.
Hi Mari! So glad you had a nice and productive Labor Day! That shed is great, and you will enjoy the additional storage and work space. I really liked both the book and movie The Help. I hope you have a great week! See you again soon!
Love. Love. Love this, my friend! Loved sharing your day! You are so productive! I love the photos and the shed is amazing!!! We recently watched The Help and loved it! Have a cozy week ahead!
I love the shed, especially it's design. Bob is a wonderful builder! Thanks for showing the rose Of Sharon. Usually my favorite would be the bright pink. But that deep red in the center of the white ones is making me change my mind. This does not look like a bee! More like a paper wasp or some other kind.
The shed Bob has build is very nice indeed!
I already have paint mine in Spring because it’s too hot in Summer nowadays. I like the colour.your house is always neat and clean.
Yesterday we did not do much my husband was tired and it was too hot outside. We look forward to to our holidays !
Mari, the shed looks so good! And it sounds as if you had a wonderful first day of September 2025.
Love the shed, good job, Bob!!!! Wishing you a lovely Monday my friend.
Hi, Mari!
I always love to see your posts, especially these ones, because your house looks so welcoming and cozy! :)
Those flowers are beautiful and with that new shed your hubby built, your garden will look even better!
Have a blessed week!
I loved The Help movie, have not read the book. that is one beautiful shed, I want it for a She Shed and no one allowed but ME and maybe Beau. your home is so beautiful. good job on the paint job and only 2 hours to paint it. wow
A few months ago I watched The Help again. It is a good movie. It sounds like you had a full and productive day.
Mari, you all had a well planned out day!! Lots of progress was made and yet you still had time to enjoy the flowers and good grilled burger. The shed is so nice....This is exactly what I need around here. I enjoyed "the Help" and I'm excited to see the new one that will soon be out... Have a wonderful Monday.
You & hubby are busy bees, Mari. Good for you. Autumn always feels like the time to get chores done, to me....before the snow & cold settle in. I love your yard barn....it looks like it would make a good SheShed to me! *lol* Love, Andrea xoxo
That's a super shed Bob's made and you both painted it? When we had one erected, we paid someone to paint it and said we'd do the inside ourselves, but then we sold that property and left the paint for the new owners!
Wow, you really accomplished so much on a holiday. What a lovely home you have and that shed is wonderful. Lots of work but it's obvious it will be getting lots of use.
Our temps are only going to be in the 80sF today too.
I'm loving it...

I read that book years ago, as well, and have seen the movie. It was well done, too. The shed looks great and your weather sounds so good to me. We are still humid and have temps in the low 90s. Not quite our Fall just yet. Have a great week ahead!! Love to all!!
I love reading about your first of the month days! They're always so full of activity. I find them motivating and enjoyable to read. Fall is certainly in the air...it's been cold here, too. I'm not ready!! Haha!
Another dauy for you. Shed looks great. I read that book and thought it was good too. It was a book club selection.
What a super day ...
Like you I do like starting my day with an egg.
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
