A Day in my Life - July

July is here!  We're halfway through the year and it's hard for me to believe that.  Here's how I spent the first day of the month.

This is my usual start to the day, 30 minutes on the treadmill.  Then it's time for breakfast, devotions and some computer catch up time.
After that I threw the sheets in the wash.

This is the devotion book I'm reading right now and enjoying.  It's a study on Jacob.

I had lots of cleaning to do on this day.  I started by cleaning the stove and wiping down my frig, dishwasher and microwave.  After that I cleaned the bathrooms.

This is one of my favorite cleaning tools.  It's a dyson cordless vac and it makes it so easy to vacuum my carpet, rugs and hardwood floor. The floors were done in no time!

When I finished these things it was close to noon and we had some special visitors stop by.  Heather was nearby and she stopped with Cassie and Connor.  Can you believe that I forgot to take any pictures? They stayed about 45 minutes and we had a nice time visiting.

After lunch, I made a run to the grocery store. It was a beautiful day, blue skies and a nice drive.

When I got home, I went out to Bob's shop to see what he was up to. He's working on these cute signs to put in some of our garden beds.

I spent some time reading in the afternoon.  This is one of 4 books in this authors Blue Sky series.  Each book can stand alone, but I'm reading each of them and totally enjoying them! If you haven't read any of her books, I recommend them.

We had taco salad for supper, a good meal on a hot day.

After supper, we took our usual walk around the yard to see what new things are blooming.

This is Bee Balm or Monarda.  The flowers just started to open up.

We relaxed and watched some tv, then went out a little after 9 and sat on our deck.  We've been really enjoying it in the evening.

The sky was getting a little pink, there were some birds singing, and it's just peaceful.

This is a firefly. There have been a lot of them in our backyard in the evening and they are so fun to watch blinking as it gets dark.

And that's the end of my July 1.  It was another good day!

I've seen the pink stuff though never used it; Great name. Catchy. I gotta get back to exercise. Gave my treadmill away though I do have a mini trampoline that's fun.

Hi Mari, here in Montreal we had rain and a good thunderstorm ☺️ I was very happy because we needed the 🌧 🌦 🌂 Yesterday was so hot and humid so it was a relief to get rain and cooler temperatures.
Your photos are lovely. The cover of the book is pretty and I have never seen a firefly before. Your day sounds enjoyable and productive. I do my exercise by walking outdoors in nature or in a mall. Kudos for your treadmill.

Hi Mari. I always enjoy your "Day in the Life" posts. I think I am going to see if I can get that Lisa Wingate book on Kindle Unlimited. It sounds good. Your yard is just gorgeous, and I love the yard signs Bob made. Yes, this year is truly just whizzing by. I'm not sure how it got to be July already, but here we are! This was a good post. Have a good week and I will see you again soon!

Great minds think alike! I have been wanting to do the same thing in my garden hill with signs like Poppy Road and Oleander Row. Of course have my projects are stuck in my head. Those signs will be a nice addition to your beautiful yard.

Wow, you have already had a very productive day! I'm impressed with your workout on the threadmill. Can you read a book at the same time? Or do you watch a show during your workout?
I love the title 'Limping with God.' I'm going to look it up!

I use to have bee balm at my other house. I do want to add lavender to my flower garden here next year as I heard it keeps mosquitoes at bay. Love your garden. Cannot believe the year is half over myself. Where did it go? Bob is so clever with wood. Those signs are perfect. Janice

I purchased a jar of The Pink Stuff when you sang its praises before. I would use the spray more often, I am sure. Need to look into it! I think your yard is so beautiful and I am looking forward to walking around it and sitting on your deck... soon!! xo

You had a great July 1, my friend! How nice that you had a surprise visit from Heather, Cassie and Connor! Sometimes it's just nice to enjoy being in the moment (especially with family) and not be worried with taking pictures. :) Your gardens are beautiful, Mari. I can understand why you enjoy your deck so much! And I love the signs that Bob is working on for in them! That is so cool!

I just love seeing what you get up to in a day. It looks like this was one of those perfect summer ones. :) The signs Bob is making are SO cute!! I love what they say, as much as how cute they look. You just reminded me I need to put cleaning my oven on my list!! 😁
Blessings on the rest of the week. xo

A good day all in all. I have one of those stick Dyson's too and LOVE it. So easy to just whip it out for even little jobs.
We call your firefly, lightning bugs and there are many out back in the woods.

What a beautiful yard you have ! In England, they would call it a garden, and it sure deserves that name! I would walk around your garden for 30 minutes and sell the treadmill, if I were you. Truly I would!

What a lot you accomplished, as usual, Mari! I LOVE your back yard and gardens so much! They look professional!

You have such a beautiful garden!

Does the Pink brand work great?
Your garden almost looked like it had a pink cast to it.
You do a lot during the day. Work, shop, cook, and play!

I love walking the garden at night in summer. It's one of the things I think about in winter...the cicadas chirping and the fireflies lighting up the night. It really is magical.

Good start to July for you! We love sitting on our deck in the evening and watching the fireflies, too! My son's girlfriend grew up in Boston and had never seen a firefly until she was at our house a few years ago! Can't imagine that because I have loved watching them since I was a child!

Jeanette said...

Oh and I love the signs Bob is making! So cute and they will look great in your yard!

OK starting at the ending, we girls were just wondering the other day why we never see any fireflies. When we lived in Tennessee, we saw them by the hundreds on summer nights! But here, we rarely if ever see even one. Perhaps we are looking in the wrong place(s), or maybe they are scared of all the cicadas and bats around here, hahaha! Your flowers are PRECIOUS and the yard looks so beautiful. Bob's signs are brilliant. I have a copy of Lisa Wingate's Before We Were Yours. My niece Angie recommended it to me. I need to read it. Don't know WHAT I would do without my cordless vacuum. Paired with my Swiffer Power WetJet Mop, I am invincible when it comes to floors. And what would we do without Sprayway and Pink Stuff? We just heard a sermon on Jacob's limping the other night! That looks like a good book. xoxo
