Picnic in the park

Last week I told you we had a picnic in the park on Fathers Day.  We had never been to this park and it was such a pretty little place.  I wanted to show you some pictures of it.
It's on the banks of the Thornapple River in Ada Michigan which is about 45 minutes from our house.  There was a really nice picnic pavilion, paths to walk on and some cool statues.

Here's Alaina and Ruby on a statue I thought was so cool!

Here it is without anyone sitting on it.  It's called Fish Tales and is a grandpa telling his grandson about a big fish!  You can't see it on this photo, but the branch the boy is sitting on,  has roots that turn into fish swimming around.

Another fun statue

The river was peaceful and calm.

Another fun statue!

Lots of pretty flowers.

There was even someone fishing.

There were some kids enjoying jumping on these rocks on the bank of the river.

At the edge of the park is a dam.

Such a pretty place to spend an afternoon.

What a gorgeous place! I don't know which I like best...the place itself or the statues. Alaina & ruby look so perfect and cute on the fish statue.

What a delightful park.

And what delightful statues! Central Park in NYC, has nothing on you... Regarding whimsical statues.

Plus, YOUR park is certainly much safer, than Central Park in NYC!!!!

I love how your Grand Daughters are dressed alike! And in sweet dressed!!!!! Please tell their Mom!!!!

It sure looks like you had a beautiful day for a picnic and that park is so nice! I love the sculptures you shared with us. Wish I knew who the sculptor is. I wonder if they are by Seward Johnson? He does whimsical sculptures of everyday Americana. No matter, they are great! The girls are always adorable! xo
