We had a fun weekend. Bob works a lot of Saturdays and I work every other weekend, so it doesn't happen often that we are both off, but it happened this past weekend.
After Bob got out of work, we picked up Alaina and Ruby for a sleepover. We went to Culvers for supper, because Alaina thought a hamburger and fries would be good. (That's what she always asks for.) After supper we stopped and visited Bob's mom and stepdad.
Ruby was quite fascinated with Grandpa and Grandma's puppy.
Ruby sat with Grandma for a little while.
After we got home, Alaina wanted to play hide and seek.
They played with the toys for awhile...
and then did some coloring.
Ruby decided it was fun to climb on the stool and get into things on the counter.
She thought it was great fun to turn the phone on and off. She loves to push buttons...
It was a long night. Ruby usually sleeps pretty well, but this night she woke up shortly before midnight and numerous times through the night. She and I spent the night on the chair in the living room. I wondered if she was having bad dreams or something because she would wake up crying hard, out of a dead sleep. The next morning she woke up with a smile though and was her usual happy self.
I did some baking on Saturday, and I had two helpers all too willing to get their hands into things!
We brought them home in the afternoon, and I took a little nap. :)
Sunday we had a very good service at church. Our pastor is doing a series on end times which is very interesting. Our small group from church came to our house in the evening and we had some great discussion and a whole lot of laughs.
Yes, it was a very nice weekend!

It's been a long time since I slept in a chair all night with a little one! I'm sure you were tired the next day!
Love the photos...those girls are growing up so fast!
Yes, it does sound like a very nice weekend. It is so great that you get to spend so much time with your grand daughters. I can see that they love having that special time with their grandma and grandpa!
What fun photos! Yes, you had a full weekend. My sister lives in IN and often mentions Culver's. Just yesterday, I saw where they are building one near us.
Occasionally we have sleepless nights with our 21 year old, just for different reasons. It never ends really. :D I'm glad you got to have a nap. They look like an action packed couple of girls, but with Grandparents like you two I'm not surprised! :D
You two are perfect grandparents!!! Personally, I'd take a LONG nap too.
Some great photos here. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend.
Awwwwwwwww.....look at Ruby's long hair!!! Beautiful, thank you for the smiles...always a joy to see those two. Have a lovely rest of the week, Mari.
We are keeping our Audrey( 10 months) for a week beginning March 12. I am looking forward to it and dreading it a bit also. I just worry about her sleeping etc. Kendall and Landon's Mimi is keeping them that week so I can stay home with Audrey. You are very busy Mari, working and then hosting guests on the weekend. Can I have some of your energy??
My little 4 year old great grandson came for a short visit, keep rubbing my arm with his finger. Then he ask what happened to your arm?
I told him it is just getting old. His was so baby smooth, wish I could have though of something better to have said.
They are getting so big!!! Sounds like a nice (but maybe a little tiring!) weekend!
Your sweet little Alaina and Ruby are just so very cute. I know I've said this before, but Ruby reminds me of Jase; always climbing and seeing what he can get into next. I know you all had fun (except the not sleeping well) and I often wonder what causes those sleepless nights; Rylan does that and it just breaks my heart.
xoxo
I wondered if you woke up with a smile on Saturday morning, too...but those beautiful children have to make you smile, tired or not!! Glad you had such a great weekend and that Bob was there too!
Your Grands are so adorable!
I'll BET you took a nap!
Those are too adorable girls.
It sounds like a great weekend.
You dont usually both get off on the same weekend, so I know you enjoyed having the girls. I know you get tired of me saying it, but they are just precious. I look forward to seeing picture when you post them.
Oh girl, you are a trooper to have been up with a little one all night. Poor Ruby. Bad dreams are hard to deal with even for big people. But help with baking? Now you're talking. xoxo
I usually sit in a chair all night so you should have sent Ruby down here! :) I have finally gotten used to it.
I was watching David Reagan on the T.V. tonight. He was interviewing Tim LaHaye. Tim wrote the Left Behind Series. David Reagan said that he often speaks at prophecy conferences where 500 to 1500 people attend. He said that he could count on one hand the people who were under 60 years old that were attending. He was asking Tim, why? They concluded that it was because pastors were not teaching it anymore. It is good to hear that your pastor is teaching it.
That sounds fun, but very exhausting! I still have not tried having Bianca here for a weekend, because I think she would probably cry a lot at night. She's so attached to her own crib! I forget the age difference between her and Ruby. Bianca was born in August 2015.
You sure are a good grandma! And the girls sure do love trips to Grandpa and Grandpa Oliver's house!
