On Christmas Eve we always have our kids for supper and our family Christmas celebration. Laura and Aaron and girls, and Heather and Andrew were planning to come. We sent gifts to our son Andy in Kentucky and were planning to Skpe with him after supper.
When Laura and Aaron arrived, Ruby noticed the bells on my Christmas pillow, and promptly pulled one off.
She was quite happy with that little bell, and wasn't too happy when we took it and the pillow away!
We started the evening with supper - too much food, but it was good!
While we were eating, I heard a noise and when I looked up I saw Andy in the doorway! What a wonderful surprise! He and his girlfriend Nikki had driven all day from Kentucky to spend a few days with us over Christmas. Laura and Heather knew they were coming, but they all kept the secret from Bob and I.
After supper we read a kids book about God giving us Christmas, before we opened presents.
Ruby doesn't care much about presents, she just likes to climb on them!
Alaina showed her how it's done!
Alaina got a kids camera. Now we can go picture taking together!
Here's Alaina checking Grandpa's ears using her new Dr kit.
Isn't this beautiful? It's one of my gifts from Bob. I always wanted a plaque with this Bible passage for our room, and I love the way this is done, with the different fonts and sizes.
So much to be thankful for this Christmas - the gift of Christ, and having my whole family together!

You said it right....the birth of Christ and being with family made it a perfect day.
AWESOME!!! I am so happy your son came for a visit, big, big smiles here, Mari. Love the pictures of Ruby and Alaina, beautiful. Many Blessings.
What a geat surprise to have your son arrive at dinner. Love all the pictures of those precious girls and I love your gift. It is a good reminder for all of us.
What a blessing to have everyone together for Christmas Eve. I love seeing Ruby and Alaina. Your plaque is very special and one that I would love to have as that is the verse the Pastor used at our wedding ceremony. Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year, Mari.
That stinker, Andy! He is full of surprises. Now he will have to go home to get his gifts. It sure was a nice thing that he did though.
I know that you loved seeing him.
Alaina and Ruby steal the show every time. Such cute littles.
I like your wall hanging too. It is a great verse.
It doesn't get any better than that does it.
What a wonderful time you all had! xx
How very fun! I think Andy coming was the best part of all!
What a wonderful surprise! Family all together, the BEST!
Awww, what a great surprise to have Andy and Nikki there. That's sweet. Your buffet looks so good. Dagny is like Ruby: She'd just as soon carry presents around and use them (unopened) as toys, as to actually open them and see what's inside. She also had a little red bell she toted around for the last three weeks, but it didn't come from a pillow, haahaha. Your verse picture sign is so nice. xoxo
Wow, wow, wow!!!! Andy surprising you like that!! How wonderful! I do love that plaque.
What a great post, Mari! I'm late getting to blogs, but loved reading this and especially about your wonderful surprise!!
