This is what it is looking like around my house. You may remember that last year, it seemed like the snow never stopped. I really don't think I'm ready for it again this year but it goes with living in Michigan! It made me think about the reasons I like living here. In spite of having to drive in the snow I think I'll stay!
1. Fresh fallen snow really is beautiful.
2. We have four distinct seasons.
3. There are no hurricanes.
4. We have the great lakes .
5. We don't have wildfires.
6. The trees are beautiful in the fall.
7. We have a nice mix of countryside, farmland and cities.
8. I am too wimpy to survive the heat in the south.
9. There are lots of beautiful beaches.
10. My family lives here!

Those are some very good reasons. I do like how the snow looks but i sure don't miss it.
I love all your reasons and second that.
Your pictures are beautiful! I'm too wimpy to live in the northern cold anymore, but I do love the snow and sometimes miss it. Stay safe and warm, my friend!
It is beautiful but I still don't like it. Most of the rest of your reasons are good.
That snow does look just lovely, but my husband says I wouldn't like living in it. He used to live in NewFoundland. (sp?)
Our town isn't covered in snow, but it is covered in fog today!
I like your TEN! Some of the same reasons why I love Chicago! CHEERS! Michele
Beautiful photos! Home really is where the heart is.
Hugs!
Kat
I agree with you for the most part - I just wish that all the seasons lasted the same amount of time! 3 months would be long enough for winter I think! And Spring is my favorite season but it doesn't last very long.
Me too Mari! I love this state!
The snow really is very pretty. I wonder if we'll get as much as last year. Last year was crazy!!
I have been waiting for these pictures! Your snow is BEAUTIFUL!
I like your pics and I also like your reasons.
I do love to watch the big snow flakes coming down.
Hey, is Cheri calling me not normal cuz I like the heat?
These are all great reasons to love our state. Everytime we travel and drive back into Michigan I'm reminded of what a beautiful state we live in. I like winter the least, but it is so gorgeous when the snow is hanging on the trees.
Get your shovel out, they are calling for 3-5 inches today.
I grew up in the panhandle of Texas and we got a lot of snow! I loved it. Now I live in East Tennessee and if we get a dusting it will be melted by noon... I wish it would snow!
Hi Mari. I found your lovely blog through Kathi at Lavender Lace & Thyme. Your snow pictures look beautiful. I'm afraid Michigan in the wintertime might be too cold for my thin southern blood. But I'm pea green with envy that you have such beautiful snow. We get very little snow in Georgia, but when we do, it becomes an official holiday. I'd love to have snow at Christmas....
I like your ten reasons and I would definitely would like to visit Michigan.
Those are great reasons...plus us Michiganders are just good people!! We don't have any snow yet, but I know when you get it, I'm not to far behind!
add tornados to that list and you've got paradise! i was just thinking about this the other day. it rains so doggone much out here in oregon but i am very thankful for distinct seasons. those pix are so pretty!

Gorgeous pictures. I grew up in the south with no snow, so I really enjoy it (but we dont get nearly as much as you do)
It really is wonderful that you can stay so cheery despite the cold! God must be proud of you, for your heart is in the right place too!!
Well you have wonderful reasons for living in and loving Michigan. I'm really liking that snow, I could use some over here :)
Mari,
I remain in Ontario for many of the same reasons you live in Michigan. Though I am not a fan of shoveling snow, I enjoy the four seasons.
Be sure to stop by my blog and pick up the Christmas button that I made for my friends. It's in the sidebar.
Have a great week, my friend and thanks for your comments on my Christmas memories.
Blessings,
Mary
That's so funny! I am way too wimpy to survive the cold! Below 50 just puts me in a foul mood! Do you have tornados there? I would much rather a hurricane because you know it's coming!
Wonderful reasons to live in Michigan, you have much more snow than we do right now but soon! Beautiful pictures Mari! :)
Beautiful! I live in California where we're lucky to get one small snowfall a year - and sometimes we don't get even one. I'm so jealous! :) (P.S. I visit you're blog from time to time but have never commented - I found your blog thru a blog thru a blog kind of thing.)
Merry Christmas and blessings to your family!
I should do one of these, but I guess I'll wait until I live here at least one full year! :)
Ditto to ALL your reasons (except for the Great Lakes) and insert PA (where I'm originally from). There's no place like home.
