Bubble art and visiting Great Grandma

Last weekend we finally had Alaina and Ruby overnight again.  It's been too long, things like our vacation, their vacation, sickness and then random busyness kept it from happening.

On Friday night we made a trip to the local ice cream place.

The girls always choose play dough ice cream.

Ruby humored me and let me take a picture of her by the fence.

On Saturday we made bubble art.  I put food coloring in bubble mix and the girls blew the bubbles onto watercolor paper. We decided these would make fun cards if we folded them in half.

Here's the finished art!

We picked up my sister Cheri and then picked up lunch and went to the Assisted Living place that Ann lives at.  They each brought one of their bubble art pieces for her.
We had lunch outside, under the gazebo.
Alaina asked "So Grandma, what did you do this week?"  Ann replied "Chased men!"  Followed by lots of laughs from her and the rest of us.  :)

After lunch, we had to check out the little garden Ann helped plant.  She's pretty proud of it.

Hugs good-bye.

She loves seeing them and they love her too.

Then we brought the girls back home and hopefully they'll be back before too long!

The bubble art looks really fun. I will have to keep that in mind. Your granddaughters are two really beautiful girls. They are growing up to be two kind and thoughtful young women. I hope you have a great week. See you again soon!

Ruby has the most adorable freckles! Our middle granddaughter has them, too. I think it is one of her most beautiful features. I love Alaina's pretty yellow dress. As usual, you have chosen an awesome craft. Now, I am going to buy the things and do it with our girls! I can't wait!!

As pretty as she is, I'll bet there are a few old men that would like to be chasing her :)

The photos and the sweet hugs ... oh my gosh, that brought tears to my eyes. That is so very super kind to visit someone in the Nursing Home. It means so much. Y'all are the best. Love In Christ xx

Oh dear ... there is something in my eye and it's not a bubble infused with food coloring (wonderful as that is and I have already shared that with Audrey who said it will be a perfect activity for both Dagny and Rhett) ... Ann reminds me of Henry in that he is the only grandpa my children have ever known. They love him and he loves them but these pictures of Ann embracing Alaina and Ruby are priceless. More goodbyes will someday be said but you can never say they did not make the most of the time they had with Ann and your dear dad. And Ann's witty comeback to their question ... wow I love her sense of humor! It's obvious that it has stood her in good stead. xoxo

It is so good for children to be around the elderly - I remember my grandparents at that age, something my own kids never grew up seeing. It's funny how now, they both work with the elderly in their jobs and they love them. That one photo of Ann and the kids among the beautiful flowers is really eye-catching.

Yuck - never heard of play dough ice cream. I don't think I would like it.

I love that the girls get to know their great-grandma. I only have memories of my granny's mom. I was only 4 or 5 and just remember her sitting in a rocking chair, making string balls. The bubble art does make nice greeting cards! Special times make special memories! xo

You always have such fun projects. I'll have to share that one with my granddaughter to try with her girls.
Great-grandma has a good sense of humor, haha.
Precious pictures of the hugs.

Aw, this reminds me of the bittersweet days when we'd visit my mom at her assisted living...

The bubble art looks like fun! I love those cards so unique. Aw... great grandma has to occupy her time. What a sense of humor she has. My childhood friend Judy loved the assisted living center so much that when she visited her aunt she would get her hair done in the beauty salon. hahaha Judy is a real corker!
