Happy July!
I know I'm a day late, but I thought I would wait a day to post this, and keep my recipe on Thursday.
As I usually do, I'm sharing my first day of the month with you. I was working on July 1, so I don't have too much excitement to share, but here's how the day went.
I got up at my normal time (about 10 minutes before 5am), walked on the treadmill, got ready and headed for work.
This was taken at about 6:40am. It's so nice to have it light in the morning when I'm going to work. I always enjoy taking the back roads in and enjoying some beauty on the drive.
This was the big news at work. We're going to have a big construction project at our nursing home. They've been working on this for a while, but getting all the permits and government okays takes a while. It looks like they are finally getting almost ready to start. We are adding a wing, making many of the rooms private, getting a new therapy gym, chapel and fixing everything up. We're all pretty excited!
Our MDS nurse is leaving us, so we had a potluck for her. We decided it's a good thing we don't do that every day - none of us left hungry!
It was a busy day and I ended up staying 1 1/2 hours late. Some days are like that, but it was a day that Bob was working late, so I didn't have to worry about supper.
On my drive home, I admired all the tiger lilies, growing wild in the ditches. I love seeing the beauty that God puts around us!
Close to my house, I came upon this old caboose. The man who lived here loved trains. He passed away a few years ago and now his kids are donating this to be put on a walking trail.
See the clouds in the sky? It was a crazy weather day - sunny, then cloudy. When I was driving home the thermometer on my car said it was only 65 degrees, which is pretty cool for July 1.
I had a quiet evening at home, did a little laundry, paid some bills and checked out blogs. One of them was my daughter Heathers. She started a new blog and is currently showing her house and neighborhood in a few posts. If you want to visit her, her blog is

As it started to get dark, I decided to take a short drive. I had heard several things about 'The star of Bethlehem'. It's actually Venus and Jupitor, so close together that they look like one big star. The astronomers say this hasn't happened for 2000 + years, and it may have been the star the wise men saw.
We have too many trees around our house to see any stars that are low on the horizon, so at 10pm I went on that drive.
It's surprising how light it can be outside, when the moon is nearly full. Of course, in this picture, my headlights are shining also.
Sorry for the poor picture - I'm not good at night shots. But, here it is! Can you see how bright that star is compared to the one next to it?
