Pray for the election

The big election is Tuesday. Until now I haven't posted about this, because I'm having a hard time putting my thoughts into words, but I have to share a few things. I will first share with you a small section of a letter written by Huntley Brown who is a concert pianist, a Christian and a black man.
.
"I process my identity through Christ. Being a Christian (a Christ follower) means He leads, I follow. I can't dictate the terms. He does because He is the leader. I can't vote black because I am black. I have to vote Christian because that's who I am. Christian first, black second. Neither should any other ethnic group vote because of ethnicity. When I die I won't be asked if I was black or white. I will be asked if I knew Jesus and accepted Him as my Savior."
.
Mr Brown has lots more to say, but what he says about our identity being in Christ really struck me. It is through this part of my identity that I will decide how to vote - not only for the president, but also for all the other decisions. I have to pray and choose as God leads.
This leads me to my second point. There is a spirit of unrest among many Christians I know, a feeling that they need to be doing something and a lot of concern about this election. I think this is a call to prayer for all of us. I ask you to pray for the election process on Tuesday. Pray that the man God has chosen will be elected. Pray that people are informed voters who will understand what each candidate stands for.
Our town is having a time of prayer among several of the churches with people signing up to take 30 minute increments of time to pray and some will be fasting as well.
Please join us in praying wherever you are!
.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
.

"Look at the nations and watch - and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if
you were told."
Habakkuk 1:5
