Cooking Thursday

The recipe I'm sharing today rates right up on top of Bob's list of favorites.  It has a crispy cookie crust, a creamy filling and is topped with cherry pie filling.  What's not to like?  He loves cherry.  If I was making it for me, I would use blueberry pie filling, but you can take your choice!

Cherries in the Snow
Crust:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
Mix together and press into an ungreased 9x13 pan.  Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees and allow to cool.
Filling:
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
8 ounces cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
Cream together cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla.  Stir in the whipped cream.
Spoon over cooled crust.
Spread 2 cans pie filling (your choice of flavor) over top of cream cheese filling.  Refrigerate overnight before serving.

A lady from our old church back in Illinois used to make this and I never had the recipe. Thanks for sharing. Yours looks so good.

I appreciate you sharing this recipe, Mari. My husband loves things like this. He also loves cherries, and blueberries. I think I may actually have one bag of cherries still in the freezer that needs used up. If not, I'll make the blueberry pie filling. I know I have blueberries.:)

Yum I can understand why that's one of Bob's favourites. Personally I'd like it with strawberry topping!

My Joe would be happy with no pie filling on top! He LOVES cheesecake! Thanks for sharing. I'll keep the cherry filling on top since it is my favorite!

I make this all the time. When Ben was single and living at home, this was his favorite dessert. As a matter of fact, I made it for our Tuesday friends when they were here the last time. Everyone seems to love this dessert. I am glad to know that Bob loves this dessert too.

Cherry lover here! I laughed at our mid-week group when the hostess bought two cheesecakes, cherry and raspberry and everybody wanted cherry (her husband's fav too) This would really go over big with them!!!! I wish you were part of our group; we would eat well for sure!

My kiddos would love this too! They both love cherry anything (especially my son). And it's like a cheesecake middle - which is my daughter's favorite. Yum! Xoxo
