The Country Fair

Do you have a Fair in your area? We have a local fair that I have been going to since I was a kid. I remember going with my parents, walking through the fairgrounds and thinking that my Dad took far too long looking at the animals and tractors, plus it seemed that he knew everyone there and would end up talking!  Us kids were focused on getting to the rides!
Bob and I went to that same Fair on Friday night with Andrew and Heather.  We started in the animal barns.

Such cute bunnies!

This is a bunny!  He's so fluffy that I don't know how he can see to move around.

I enjoy looking at the goats.

This goat was trying to get to know Andrew a little better.

Aren't these ones cute?

Look at that curly hair do!

The Clydesdale horses are so big, and I think they look pretty majestic.

How do you like this horses mane?

This miniature donkey stole the show.  He was so cute!

There are area's where people turn in things for judging.  There were arts and crafts, photos, antiques, fruits and veggies, baked goods...  We found this Olaf made of pumpkins there.  Isn't he cute?

There was  all sort of machinery there, including this huge combine!  They sure have changed since the days when I was a girl on the farm!

Here's a view of the main part of the fair. - rides and food!  We didn't do the rides, just walked through them.  We didn't get anything to eat either,  We had gone our to eat before and weren't even hungry for elephant ears!
It was a fun way to spend an evening.

It's been forever since I've gone to the fair. Those are some cute little bunnies, and goodness gracious those goats! One of my uncles used to have them. And, today I was watching Chopped when one of the meals they had to cook leg of goat. ewwwww That is not something I would want to cook, much less eat.

Glad y'all enjoyed the evening. When I did used to go, I always liked to see the crafts like quilts. :)

Our state fair is going on right now, but I have no desire to go. And we didn't make it to our county fair. Maybe next year.
That goat looks like it enjoyed looking at you as well! And even the Clydesdale's behinds are majestic!
What are elephant ears?

When we lived in Louisville, Ky we so enjoyed the State Fair which was held there every fall. Growing up our little county fair was always something to look forward to, everyone entered something and it was fun to look at the displays. Fairs and Fall go together don't they?

Looks like lots of fun. We didn't make it this year, but maybe next year when Ruby's older. :)

I too went to the fair as a child, and my children went when they were young too. There was always something new to see, and of course, rides of all kinds. Your pictures are great. Brought back good memories.

When I was in school and in the band, we always marched at our county fair, up in Ohio. It was fun and the fair was always fun, too. There is a county fair here in Polk Country, Florida, that I have never been to. We have Florida's State Fair over in Tampa. We've never been to it either. The next town over has an annual Strawberry Festival that we went to once. I guess I'm just not interested enough to fight the traffic and crowds anymore. Fuddy-duddy that I am. Yours looks like it was great fun, and I really would enjoy seeing all the animals. That fuzzy bunny is amazing. Looks like angora!

I had animal pictures too. I wish I had gotten more. I love it. I missed the exhibits which I love but will have to catch another time when I don't go with the babies.

Oh yes, we have many a Fair in lots of small towns around here. Our hometown is the last one, always the first full week of October. But, that one is strictly a Farmshow. No games, And only a handful of dinky rides. But the food.....oh the food! Yummy! Except I can no longer eat most of it :( the kids love the animals, we LOVE seeing old friends. It's a lovely time!

I love going to the fair and ours is next week...I think...I'll have to check to make sure I don't want to miss it. I love the braided mane on the horse, very pretty.

We just had a lot of fun at the Minnesota State Fair - but I forgot how large it is and how many folks attend! I think this past Sat they said they had about 180,000 people visit that day! Yowza!!

This fair looks like a much easier size to navigate. Lol We have a local fair too, but it's pretty small. Looks like you had lots of fun... even if you didn't get to eat any goodies! Thanks for sharing! xo

Arrrrrrgggh the Pirate be opposed to fairs! Haaahahaa I share this sentiment with my son-in-law, Joel. We both dislike fairs. The animals are cute though. xoxo

I loved our county fair! Hoping that we can go next year -- depends on what our dates are for furlough though. Not sure how I'll deal with the food piece; no more elephant ears for me, but I think I can do the vinegar fries :) My favorites are the animal barns, 4-H, and the buildings that showcase the hand made and hand grown items. But it is fun to walk through the area where the rides are, just to hear the excited squeals of children, see the lights and smell the cotton candy :)
