Evicting Justin Case

Have you heard of Justin Case? He's been living in our basement, and I decided it was time for him to leave! You know all those things you keep "just in case"? I was cleaning things out and decided to have a garage sale. I haven't done one in years, but my sister Cheri and my daughter Laura said they had things they would add in and we decided to give it a try.
While I was getting things ready I read a magazine article that talked about excuses we make to avoid getting rid of things. They were pretty good, so I thought I would share them:
"But it's still perfectly good."
"I can't get rid of a collection."

"It was such a good deal."

"I might need it one day."

"I'll wear it when I lose weight."

"I'm going to get it fixed."

"It was a gift."

"It holds so many memories."

Lots of them are true for me, but you can only store so much!
So - we had a sale on Friday and Saturday.

However, we had a problem - rain! It rained much of the day Friday, finally slowing down in the evening.

This is what it looked like on Friday night.
Saturday was supposed to be better, but it still rained. It did improve though, and we did sell quite a bit, making it worth our time.
We had fun sitting together, talking and laughing. We met lots of nice people too (and a few strange ones!)

fun! I prefer going to yard sales then having them...would have loved to stop by yours! It rained here, too and the people behind us were having a yard sale! they scrambled pretty fast when the heavens opened up over their treasures!!

*you can definately meet some odd birds while yard selling!

Garage sales are a lot of work but fun if done with some fun people. It makes the time go by faster.

Wish you lived close by. I would've been to your garage sale. Sorry about the rain.

I love getting rid of stuff. I did it big time back in 2005 when we downsized. I'm sure I will need to get rid of a lot more whenever we actually sell our house. It's so much better to have less stuff.

By the way, it would not be a garage sale without strange people. They go together!

Awww ... sorry your sale was dampened! LOL ... glad to know y'all pulled it out in the end, though. Wish I could have been there ... but I need to be getting rid of stuff, not bringing more stuff into this house!

Love "Justin Case"!!! Gotta remember that. I, too, need to get rid of him.

We were supposed to have rain
Saturday and didn't. Do people over there have garage sales on Thursday? Everyone over here starts them on Thursday and runs through Saturday, but let me tell you, Saturday is the slowest day, like leading up to Christmas for kids.

I would have to have a sale of all the stuff in the garage before I could fill it with stuff from the house! My goodness...we certainly do accumulate!
I think Justin Case is my husbands alias!

Mari,

We too need to evict this useless person that dwells in all kinds of places in our home and have a yard sale as well. Sounds like yours turned out perfect in the end.

The only way to have a garage sale is with others! If not, it's too boring, but with friends/family/whoever it becomes a par-tay! :-) Too bad about the rain, but glad you got rid of some stuff and had fun in the bargain!

You are so organized with the sale from the look of the pic. I'm glad you had a good sale despite the rain.
