Everything you wanted to know about me and are sorry you asked

My friend Kat from Heart 2 Heart had this fun quiz on her blog and invited her readers to join in. If you want to do this on your blog, feel free to join us.

The phone rings. Who will it be?
If it's in the afternoon, and I've worked that day it is probably my sister Cheri. We touch base frequently. I don't get to talk to my sister Terri as often as I used to, because she is now working until later in the day.

When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart?
Yes - at least to the Cart Corral. I figure it's a good way to get in a few extra steps and it saves the workers from walking all over the parking lot.

In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener?
I'm more of a listener, especially if I don't know the people well.

Do you take compliments well?
No, I'm afraid not. I need to work on that instead of always feeling like I need to make an excuse.

Do you play Sudoku?
I love it. I have a Nintendo DS and often take the Sudoku game along to appointments. It's a good thing to do while waiting.

If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive?
No! I'd probably be one of the first ones gone.

Did you ever go to camp as a kid?
I went one year when I was in junior high, with a few friends. We had fun!

What was your favorite game as a kid?
I liked all those kid games - Simon says, Red Rover, Hide and seek, Ghost in the graveyard.

Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
No, my faith is such an important part of me, that it would never work to be with someone who didn't agree with that. I could be and am friends with people of other faiths, but that is completely different than being married to them.

Do you like to pursue or be pursued?
I'm old fashioned that way and would never do the pursuing. I hear things are different now though.

Use three words to describe yourself?
Christ follower, caring, pest (as in I like to tease people)

Do any songs make you cry?
Oh yes, sentimental songs get me and so do lots of worship songs.

Are you continuing your education?
I am required to get 25 hours of continuing education credits every 2 years to maintain my nursing license, but other than that, no.

Have you ever taken pictures in a photo booth?
Yes - when I was a teenager.

How often do you read books?
Not as much as I used to because I'm always reading blogs. I read a book every week or two.

Do you think more about the past, present or future?
Probably the future, even if it's just the next day. I like to plan out my week, although it doesn't always work.

What is your favorite children’s book?
'Love you Forever', by Robert Munsch. I used to quote that verse to my kids when they were young.

What color are your eyes?
Green

Where is your dream house located?
A log cabin, in the woods, in a quiet place.

If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?
Pictures, scrapbooks.

When was the last time you were at Olive Garden?
Probably a few months ago. We need to go again!

Where was the furthest place you traveled today?
About 6 miles to go to work.

Do you like mustard?
No, I never use it if I have the choice.

Do you look like your mom or dad?
People say I look like my mom!

How long does it take you in the shower?
About 10 minutes.

Can you do the splits?
Are you kidding? I couldn't do that when I was a kid.

What movie do you want to see right now?
I'm not a big movie person. I wait for them to come out on DVD and even then can't remember which ones to see.

What did you do for New Year’s?
We usually get together with Bob's brother and wife. We used to have all the kids too, but last year they all left us.

Do you think The Grudge was scary?
I never heard of it.

Do you own a camera phone?
No, just the basics.

What’s the last letter of your middle name?
I don't have a middle name. My whole name is Maribeth.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
Usually about 6.

What do you buy at the movies?
Just the ticket to get in.

Do you know how to play poker?
I learned once, but I wouldn't remember.

Do you wear your seat belt?
Always.

How many meals do you eat a day?
I skip breakfast occasionally, but usually eat three.

Do you like funny or serious people better?
They each have good points, but I do like a good sense of humor.

Ever been to L.A.?
Never been to California.

Did you eat a cookie today?
No

Do you hate chocolate?
What? Who would answer yes to that?

Are you a gullible person?
Yes - I believe the best of people until I learn otherwise, which doesn't work with some.

Are you easy to get along with?
Most of the time, but I do have my cranky times!

That's it. Join in if you want.

Mari,

I enjoyed reading this post and learned a little more about you. I may give it a try if things aren't too hectic here next week.

Thank you for the birthday and Thanksgiving greetings. I wasn't born on Thanksgiving but my birthday does fall on it every few years. It's always special when it does.

So, your birthday is in the 4th week of November, correct?

Enjoy your week, my friend. I hope you have Columbus Day off.

Blessings,
Mary

I loved knowing more about you. Wow, you don't have heaps of sleep, just 6 hours a night. I need at least 8 to not be a grizzly bear in the mornings.

I'm more of a listener too.

Wow, I would have answered a lot of the questions the same as you.
Even the green eyes.

Red Rover?!!!! Oh my gosh, that so brings back good childhood memories!

Loved this question and answers of yours, I had done it also quite a while ago. Reading yours helps all us visitors/friends to get to know you better. I too am a listener!

Hope your Monday is TERRIFIC Mari.

Mari,

What a great way to get to know you better. We have the same dream house and I love that you play Nintendo DS.

All your childhood games brought back warm memories from childhood and smiles.

Thank you for sharing even more about yourself.

Love and Hugs ~ Kat

why is it so hard for us to smile and say "thank you very much" when someone gives a compliment? i'm exactly like you. even being so rude as to try to convince them that they are wrong

I enjoyed reading your meme. I am a listener too. Even with my friends, they are all talkers and I listen. Sometimes a butt in! Ha ! Ha! I think that is why I like blogging. I get to say something!!!!!!!

What a wonderful way to get to know you better. We seem to be quite a bit alike, and I don't put mustard on any thing either!

I enjoyed getting to know you better this way. I don't have a middle name either. My full name is Kellyann. The funny thing is that I didn't know that fact until I was around 12. I always thought Ann was my middle name :) I always have to have a cookie every day! I used to play a lot of Red Rover too.

Oh, so much fun! I wish I could remember what I read at the beginning so I knew what I wanted to say now. We had quite a few that were similar.

Oh come on, you can do the splits and so can I, LOL. Ouch!!!!

It's funny that I called you Maribeth for so many years that it was hard to shorten it to Mari. Now Maribeth seems like someone else and you are just Mari. I'm afraid you will always be "DeWeerd" to me even though I don't say it out loud. In my head it still rolls out, "Maribeth DeWeerd". Silly, huh?

Now lets let some chocolate and practice those splits.

Love You Forever is one of mine, too! In fact, it almost makes me weepy when I read it to my littlest.

I enjoyed reading your answers. :) Maybe I'll try to join you tomorrow.

I think I'd die even before you in the wilderness, Mari!

You don't like MUSTARD? LOLOL

I'm not a huge mustard fan either. Now chocolate...that is another story.

Fun meme.
