This is from an e-mail I received. I thought this was really interesting and wanted to share it.
Michigan has had the coldest winter in decades. Water expands to freeze, and at Mackinaw City the water in Lake Huron below the surface ice was supercooled. It expanded to break through the surface ice and froze into this incredible wave.
I've seen pictures of this wave phenomena in Antarctica, but in Michigan? Yes, it's been quite a winter! However, the sun has been shining this week, and the snow has been melting! Spring is on its way.

Seriously, is this in your neck of the woods?!?
I was thinking of putting some pictures on my blog in the near future of our kids jumping in our pool this last week.
I would look a bit 'spring arrogant', wouldn't I?
Love you! Joanne
That is wild !!!
Looks incredible. Wouldn't want to be standing there when it melted though unless I had a super huge surf board (and the ability to surf too!)
Zowie!
Amazing!! I guess it would also be spring arrogant of me to tell you that I had my ac on today:) By the way, I think you have told me how to add awards to my blog but can you e-mail that info to me again? I'm trying to get my blog in order, as you can probably tell from my makeover. Thanks!!
This isn't michigan.

What a gigantic ice cube!
I also wondered if that was really from here.
It's pretty cool though- even if it isn't exactly what we thought it was in the email.
I got this email from my aunt in lower MI (we're from the Yoop). I was pretty sure it wasn't local and found the Snopes link showing the hoax. But I'm still glad I got the email, because when I Googled Michigan Ice Wave, I found your blogs and have now bookmarked them. Happy coincidence? I think not. Gently being led to a place I can learn and grow? I'm sure of it!
It is awesome no matter where it is! nature does some cool stuff and I think it's funny because we have had one of the warmest winters!
That is really cool! Spring has sprung here, I hope it makes it way to you soon...and takes the pollen with it! hehehe
that would be incredible to see in real life.
I don't care where that thing is - it makes me cold all over again just to look at it!
It's starting to feel like a heat wave has hit Michigan doesn't it? All the way up to 54 degrees today!
Think Spring!!!
Wherever it is, it doesn't look like global warming to me... :)
what an amazing photo. hope you don't mind me stopping by. i like the style of your blog - it's very pretty!
Cool! Regardless where it came from it's still a cool picture!
now when that thing starts to melt - look out!
just been catching up on your posts ... looks like you have had some good times ... your dad's birthday pics were great!
blessings on ya!
That's scary, it's really neat and cool looking but scary too......what is going to happen when it starts melting?

i can't cook without thinking about you dear chef. i made swedish meat balls last night. yum. the gravy has a 1/2 tsp. of instant coffee and adds a great flavor. i found the danish at kroger. they only had strawberry but that will work won't it?

Reading all the way to the bottom, it mentions the part about this being said to be Michigan.
