Changing Seasons

Although it has been unseasonably warm here, there are major signs that Fall is here. I went for a little walk a few evening ago and there was the subtle scent of wood smoke in the air. There are not many leaves falling yet, but some were crackling under my feet. The evening was a little cooler and the trees in my neighborhood are starting to take on a different color. This is the street in front of my house and you can see a hint of color in the leaves.

Here is one of the blossoms on our hydrangea tree. I posted about this tree earlier this summer here and told you about the flowers changing colors. On this picture you can see that the flowers which used to be pure white, are creamy and are developing an antique pink hue.

This is Autumn Joy Sedum. All summer it is somewhat overlooked, because although the greenery is nice, its flowers are a pale green color. As Fall approaches the flowers become gradually darker until they are the color you see here. It make a nice accent in our back flower bed, when the other flowers are dying.

Isn't God's handiwork awesome? I am amazed by the beauty he has put around us and by the way it changes from season to season. It is such a blessing to know that our God is in control of things. The same God, who created this earth is the God who watches over our lives. He is the God who knows us by name, he knows what is best for us and cares for each of us, individually! How great is our God!

"He changes times and seasons, He sets up Kings and deposes them." Daniel 2:21

I loved this post ! It's neat to "see Autumn" even though I'm living in Spring !

We watched a DVD at church yesterday. It's called "Indescribable" by Louie Giglio. I'm going to try and post some info about it on my blog later in the week. If you have a chance to see it, you should ! AMAZING !! Your post reminded me of it when you talked about God's handiwork.

I can't wait for cooler weather and all the leaves to change. It's the best time of the year. I said yesterday though that it's probably going to go from being scorching to snowing, with the way things work! :)

80+ degrees on Oct. 8 in Michigan who would have thought? Anna had a soccer game at 1pm Sat. and Maria Snyder and I were hot just watching it and we weren't doing the running. Those poor kids.

Wow - your yard is soooo pretty! I do love the changes in the season - although it doesn't happen down here for QUITE a while - it's STILL 90 degrees!

That's funny because I was just thinking this morning that I should call you up sometime this week to see if you wanted to go for a walk. Guess you beat me to it!

Beutiful pics!! I do miss the change of seasons that Illinois brought, but I have to say that I certainly don't miss the winters when we are having our very short winters in South Carolina.

Looks like a beautiful neighbourhood. Thanks for asking about the computer fast - it actually went really well, I thought I'd be wanting to get on it, but it was actually refreshing to have time away - makes you appreciate things differently and then you get out of 'bad habits' and can form new ones - ie balancing computer time with other stuff. Bit worried about Master 6, he's been complaining of stomach pain on and off for 3 weeks, thought it was tooth anxiety or School, but it persists outside of this. He's having trouble eating now, so we're off to the Dr's later this afternoon. I hope and trust it is something minor, but my "Mummy" heart is worrying a bit.
