Spring!

It's true - Spring is really here!  We've had several days where the temp made it to 60 degrees.  Of course, the next day it might be 30, but we're making progress.  Spring is my favorite time; I love the blue skies, the warmer temps and all the trees and flowers starting to wake up. Last week, I wandered around the yard with my camera to document a little of that beauty.

Beautiful sight of buds on trees

Even the pine trees are showing new growth.

These are Lenten Rose plants. Many of you said you had never seen them before. They like cooler climates and grow in the shade. They are one of the first plants to bloom in the Spring and bloom for a long time. We have two plants, the green/white one and the rose color.

Miniature daffodils

The sun shining on new leaves is a beautiful sight!

These are Grecian Windflowers. They are quite small and grow in a carpet, low to the ground. Once their season is done, the whole plant disappears and isn't seen again until the next Spring.

This is their usual color, but we get a few pale ones, as pictured above.

This is Siberian Squill.  It's another tiny plant, only 4 inches tall. It grows in patches, creating these lovely spots of blue.

"To everything there is a season and a time for
every matter under heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1

I never get tired of seeing the Lenten Roses. Miniature Daffodils! There are some here, and I did not know what they were, they are so much smaller and shorter than the regular kind. The Grecian Windflowers are gorgeous, as are the Siberian Squill. I have never seen these, either!

The name reflects something the Greeks noticed:

The flowers sway and tremble in the slightest breeze, as if responding to the wind itself.
In Greek lore, they were believed to open and close with the wind, and even to be created by the gods — especially in myths involving Aphrodite and Adonis.

Your flowers are beautiful. I have planted hundreds of bulbs in the years we have lived here. This year I got 1 daffodill.

It is getting warmer here too, of course we still have chilly days but it's making progress. It is nice to see the garden coming back to life, well apart from the weeds that are popping in mine. hehehe Beautiful photos! Yes, there was something a few weeks ago on blogs about Lenten Roses. I had never seen or heard of them before then.

I really like Grecian Windflowers, they don't grow in Finland. The others are beautiful pictures too and an interesting quote from the Bible, I hadn't thought of that in relation to the seasons. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Your yard is beautiful, Mari!! I wasn't there in the Spring, but it was beautiful in July! I love those little low-growing plants that bloom and create a beautiful carpet across spans of lawn. So pretty!

Marvelous photos, Mari! You've captured the essence of spring for all of us. Here in GA, we are moving toward summer temps much faster than I'd like. Blessings!

Aahhh - breathing it in and soaking it up! We are riding the roller coaster too, but still have small snow piles and frozen bay. So it will be a minute yet. So love living through you! I just LOVE those Lenten rose shrubs - I need to look into those and find a spot to plant them. They are so beautiful in such a different way. Blessings dear Mari 🌸

Lordy mercy... it's supposed to be over 90 today. Jumps from me using the furnace just a few days ago to over 90! It's always a surprise.

All of your promises of Spring are so lovely. I especially like the backlit green leaves and again the Lenten Roses. I wish they would grow here on the West Coast.
Great photos and the tiny flowers are so delicate and just say new life.

Oh, I love all the pretty little spring wildflowers. It's amazing how they hibernate under the snow all winter and then come popping up in the spring with such beautiful colors and cheery faces! No wonder you love spring!!! It's so lovely! Isn't God amazing????
