Fungus often has a bad reputation, we certainly don't like mold or fungal infections. But I love seeing fungus growing in nature. Mushrooms growing after a rain, or fungus growing on trees in the woods have their own beauty.
We recently stopped at Bob's sisters home and were walking outside when we came across this old tree trunk with fungus growing on it. I thought it was so beautiful! So, I'm sharing it with you. What's your feeling on fungus?
You have to admit - it really is beautiful!

I have to say fungus scares me - but I have to say these are interesting.
We share 45-55% DNA with fungus so I find that fascinating! Plus they're unique and are photogenic
Dear Mari, lovely photos!!! I love the patterns in these!
Fascinating but they make me nervous. I do not know why, hahaa 🤔 xoxo
It is like nature's art. And mushrooms have tiny roots that go way underground and connect to trees. What we see as a mushroom is only the top bloom.
Nature has a way of turning even fungus into art.
That old tree trunk looks amazing with its patterns and textures! 🍄
Happy Tuesday, Mari!
After watching The Last of us I was very weary of fungus indeed, however it can be quite beautiful!
Stunning.
Fungus is fascinating and interesting to look at. Outside fungus is fine, if it's indoors I would worry.
In that setting it truly is gorgeous. You did a wonderful job of capturing its beauty, Mari.
What gorgeous photos you took of this remarkable fungus, Mari! I've always found this plant life fascinating as well. All creation, no matter how lowly, serves a purpose. Blessings!
Fungus to me has its own true beauty and also its own place...just like moss does. Love the pics. Janice
I just watched a documentary that had a segment on fungus/mushrooms and found it very interesting. I didn't know the roots actually grow into the trunk of the tree. You got a few great pictures.
Beautiful photos, Mari!! I think most of us think of needing antibiotics when there is talk of fungus!! We don't want it on or in our bodies, but God created it for a reason and I'm sure there is a reason it is growing on trees like that, even if it is just to alert us to a problem with the tree. AI can probably tell us!
I don't know...they are pretty, I guess. I find those kind a little creepy. Maybe they need a different name other than fungus! Mushrooms don't bother me though!
I think all the mushroom botany can be so pretty too! I love how it was growing up the tree. I bet you can guess what it makes me think of.....fairy stairsteps! Lol
I think fungus is fascinating. This fungus looks like a fancy dress cascading down the tree trunk.
Great captures. Its quite amazing how many varieties there are.

Hi Mary, those are great pictures! I like to eat mushrooms, a healthy fungus. I do not like the fungal infections I had in my ear!
Fungus is quite interesting! They do have their place in our ecosystem.
It can be quite beautiful and interesting.
I think fungus is fascinating and can look quite beautiful.
I enjoyed seeing your photographs.
All the best Jan
It is beautiful !
I love seeing fungus growing in the woods, you found some really beautiful fungus to photograph.
I'd sat that generally I'm not a fan, but it can be very pretty from a distance...or in your photos!
