A trip to the Museum

Last week we had a fun outing with Cassie. She loves to go to the Museum and we thought it would be a good inside thing to do with the bad weather we've been having.

Cassie was happy to get inside and see that this "dinosaur" was still here. She remembered it from her last visit.  It's actually a mastadon that was found on a farm near Grand Rapids.

Cassie and Grandpa under the great whale skeleton

Our Museum has a fun area that is set up like Grand Rapids in the early 1920's. I love walking through it and feeling like I've stepped back in time.

This was a special exhibit that had rubberized tiny pellets that kids could dig in and pile up. If it was piled up, the lights made it look like mountains, and if you dug into it, it looked like rivers and lakes. Cassie had such fun with it.

There was a dress up section - here she's a bee.

Here she got to pedal this machine and help the bee fly to flowers to get nectar.

This is a giant Lego exhibit of Grand Rapids.  We could find familiar buildings, the Grand River, our famous Blue Bridge... It was incredible!

Look at the details!

The museum is built next to the Grand River so we could see it out some of the windows - and there is the real Blue Bridge.

Checking out the dinosaur exhibit.

Cassie and Grandma at the bug exhibit.

She was having fun trying to step in these big footsteps.

We had a fun time, and we met the rest of her family for supper. It was a good way to spend the afternoon.

What a fun place this is! The Lego city is amazing! I enjoyed matching up the Lego one with the view from the window. Cassie looks so happy! These are all such great photos that I don't think I can pick a favorite. I really like the pellet one though. She seems to be having such fun!

What a great place to take Cassie! I just love all your pictures! As you probably saw on my FB post, we went to a big children's museum in Indianapolis. It was wonderful! But Elizer thinks he way older than he really is and didn't see any problem with wandering off by himself. Thankfully we didn't lose him. Ozzy's ten-year-old brother was a big help.

What a fantastic day.

That looks like a lot of fun! The Detroit Historical Museum has a similar set up in the basement that looks like old Detroit with cobblestone streets and cute little shops.

All your pictures are beautiful especially the one with grandpa and with you. We should go to about the same museum but Will is not quite well yet. I have a little calm moment now so I can comment on your blog 😂 I am glad you had a nice time with Cassie!

How fun. I would enjoy that place, myself! I used to have season tickets for the museums in San Francisco but since living up here, I haven't been back. I do miss them. Although the, small town museums may not be as sophisticated as the big city ones, they are educational if you're interested in local history/art etc.

What a fun trip and what a sweet day! It brings such nostalgia to me as well. It was always a favorite to do museums like this with my kiddos - either from family trips or school field trips. Cassie sure looked like she had a ball with Grandma and Grandpa! :)

What fun! Our granddaughters always loved the museums. I wish there had been such things like that when I was growing up that were close to us. I especially love that Cassie enjoys herself so much when she goes. :) Such a sweetheart of a girl, she is!

A perfect way to spend a bad weather day! Cassie looks so cute in the bee costume. My adult daughter is a Lego fanatic, so I know how much work goes into those displays.

Sounds like lots of fun and the perfect thing to do on a cold winters day.

How fun! She is growing up so fast!! We have a children's museum here that the kids love. My neighbor's grandson doesn't want to leave when they take him there (he is 5). They do have fun learning - and don't even know they are learning!! I sure loved seeing all the photos you shared! xo

You two are Wonderful Grandparents!! How fun for all of you to visit such a nice museum and how neat that they have so many photo spots. Can you imagine getting to go to a place like this when you were Cassie's age? Such a great leaning adventure for her.

From the first photo all I could see was that purse! I love it! It brings back memories of my own girls and their "accessories". Once they discovered them, there was no letting go!! Haha!!
