Then I came upstairs and got things going in the crockpot so dinner would be ready when we came home from church. The bigger crockpot has grilled chicken breasts in it, the little one has green beans.
After that I got ready and had a boiled egg for breakfast.
We got to church about 8:45. We have Sunday School before the service and that starts at 9. I'm doing a class on Genesis, which Bob happens to be teaching. This was before class, waiting for everyone to arrive.
That class gets done about 10, then our regular service starts at 10:15.
We had communion and a very good message from Romans 15.
We had communion and a very good message from Romans 15.
We did some talking after church and didn't get home till about 12:15, and then enjoyed that meal from the crock pots.
After cleaning up lunch I did a little more walking. I try to get about 14,000 steps in daily and I don't like to do it all on the treadmill. I'll be so glad when it's nice and I can walk outside again. For now, I do laps in the storage area in the basement - not pretty but it works!
Bob and I both took a short nap in the afternoon. That's so nice!
The sun continued to shine. I took this off our porch. You can see how the snow is hanging off the roof!
This is in the back yard. Bob had cleared the snow off the deck on Saturday, and the sun was helping it dry.
Then we had a quiet, relaxing evening! We love British Crime shows and have recently started watching this one - Grantchester.
We also watched 'The Repair Shop' which I've shared before. (We learned about it from blog friend Terri of Your Friend from Florida.) It's also from England and is a show where people bring in cherished items that need repair. It will make you feel good to watch it! The last show we watched was from France and is called The Beau Chateau. Season 1 is on HGTV and we hear season 2 will be starting but right now we watch it on Youtube. It's about a young couple that inherited a beautiful chateau and they are restoring it.
Yes, it was a lovely day! It was cold, but the sunshine was a treat, and we always enjoy seeing our church family.

Dear Mari, I love the ship on your bookcase. Crockpot dinners are fantastic 👌 😋
Your photos are beautiful.
It's sounds like a lovely start to the month, Mari! I love your basement, it looks so warm and charming, the bookshelves are beautiful. I've heard about that Beau Chateau, but haven't seen it, might have to track down a few episodes and catch up! Stay warm and safe...-8 is just unreal!!
Despite the cold, it looks like you had a lovely Sunday. I would sure like to hear Bob teach about Genesis. Our church is studying the Old Testament this year too! I love your bookcases in your basement. You are really getting a lot of steps in each day! Good for you. I hope things warm up a bit and that you have a lovely week!
I'm a huge Grantchester fan.
I so enjoyed my visit today!!! It seems like a lovely day. I enjoyed your recap. The snow is beautiful..but minus 8 degrees...wowza!!!! I also love american cheese on my sloppy joes!!!
Such a lovely day! A good start of February I think.
I love Grantchester and the repair show.
You had a busy day ! Nice the crockpot works for you while you’re away. I hope this snowy and cold weather will soon stops.
this was a pretty amazing day all completed in -8 degrees. Wow! I have never been below 16 ... good idea to walk in the basement, hope your deep freeze thaws soon.. yum on those sloppy joes. I love them.
I watched Beau Chateau too and also on You Tube. Next month PBS will begin The Count of Monte Cristo and I want to watch that series. Sure hope Spring comes soon. I hate that rodent this year. Glad February is here, but is usually the coldest month for us anyway. Janice
That sounds like a perfect day. You are the second person to mention sloppy joes this week and now I am craving it.
We have watched all of Granchester too.
Sounds like a lovely day.

I like Grantchester, too, and am anxious for the new season of Beau Chateau. They are such a cute couple. I'm so glad you like The Repair Shop. It introduced Cheryl and Pat to it yesterday, when they popped in for a little visit. Pat sent the link to their son Eric because he is sure Eric will enjoy it. Like minds...
Sounds like a beautiful Sunday. We love the British shows too. Watched all of Granchester and enjoyed every episode.
It really sounds like a good first day of February!
Mari, you sure pack a lot into a single day. I'm glad you were able to drive to church safely.
Brrr on that temperature.
Granddaughter borrowed my 2 crockpots for a dinner she was hosting. I really need to get them back so I can do what you did for Sunday dinner.
I remember watching the Beau Chateau program a few years ago. It was very interesting.
We attended our zoom call Faith based photo club last night. It was good to be back after a whole year break. There is renewed passion on all of our parts. Sometime I will do an entire post on it. I'm excited to be part of it again.
Have a great day
Sue
You were awesome to brave the frigid temps and go to church! The sun on the snow looks beautiful. I love that you have a little fan on the treadmill. We love true crime and British shows!! We subscribe to Britbox and Acorn. We love Brokenwood, Case histories, Murder is My Life. I could go on!
You get more done in half a day then I do all day I think. Those shows seem kind of interesting - maybe I will try Grantchester. You get 14000 steps in - awesome. Eight below zero is COLD! Brr. I need to get my crockpot out.
Sounds like a lovely first day of February! I love it when the first day of the month starts out on a Sunday. There's just something special about having communion at the very beginning of the new month! Your SS class looks interesting.
Your wood storage shelves look exactly like what my late husband and one of our sons built in our basement store rooms in our last 2 homes in Colorado. I had to do a double-take when viewing your snapshot of that, the similarity of construction and what you had stored on them was kinda "de-ja-vue" (sp??). Great minds think alike!!
You had a lovely Sunday. Sounds so nice. Our Sunday school starts at 9:45 and church at 10:45. We also have a service in the evening at 7:00.
It certainly has been a cold winter so far!!
Looks like a nice day! Good for you getting 14,000 steps! I have to admit I have been such a slug so far this year! I'm lucky if I get 8,000 steps in! I have a treadmill but hate using it lately! I can't wait to get outside and walking again!
Lovely snow pics! Our church cancelled our services this past Sunday due to snowy roads. I also enjoy British crime dramas and have caught a few Grantchester episodes. Looks like you're starting at the beginning.
Stay warm.
Looks and sounds a great start to February.
All the best Jan
14,000 steps a day--that is so impressive. I'm having trouble even making it to 2500.
The pictures are beautiful.
Hope the heat cranks up quickly in Bob's truck.
