What a week!

Last week I told you we had a Polar Vortex coming our way - a low pressure area over the polar regions that brings cold air and snow to other places.  I know a lot of you got hit with crazy weather too.  We've had a whole week of craziness and of course, I've got some photos to show you how it went.

Here's what I left you with last week.  This is when things started up, a week ago Sunday.

Here we are on Monday morning, the snow just kept falling!

Bob was planning to wait to do our driveway because it just kept snowing.  But then - we saw our sweet neighbor girls with shovels in our driveway.

So, Bob bundled up and shoveled with them.  He said they talked his ear off and it was great fun shoveling with them. It was blowing and cold, and so nice of them to come help.

A few hours later, we heard about this; a 100+ car pile up on a highway near us.  This highway is right near where I grew up and actually is the highway that went through my Dad's farmland. Thankfully there were no serious injuries.

By Tuesday morning we had gotten 16.1 inches of snow since Sunday morning.

Here's how things looked from the front porch.

Here's Bob trying to clear the snow off the deck.

and snow blowing a path to his shop.

The pine trees in the back yard look so pretty.  It's interesting how they each collect snow a little differently.

I'm stopping this post as of Tuesday so my post doesn't get too long.  The snow kept coming and I'll share more tomorrow.

Dear Mari, your photos are beautiful. We are getting snow and blowing snow right now here in Montreal.
The last couple of days our temperatures have been as low as -35 Celsius, perhaps even lower.
Thank you so much for sharing, and stay warm and safe ❤️ 💙

We kept getting 1 or 2 inches and now we are getting a good storm that will last into tomorrow.

Hi Mari, it all looks so pretty, but I can't imagine how cold it must be. I hope Bob takes lots of breaks! Stay safe and warm!

Hi Mari! That snow looks beautiful to me! We have had a snowless winter here in Utah where I live and we need snow for our water supply. That was so nice that those girls helped shovel your driveway. So glad that you stayed safe and warm. Have a good week.

Wow, that car pileup should be on the national news. It is beautiful there. You got so much snow! We didn't get that much snow, but a whole lot of sleet and ice. What a lovely thing for your neighbor girls to do!

I am practically speechless. It's amazing to me. That is a lot of snow.

It snowed all day and night here, but I think it came to about 6 inches. The birds have been trying to stay inside our shrubs now. I watched a cardinal and bluejay yesterday go at it for a spot inside one. I like the snow pics, but not fun to be out driving in it. Janice

Yowza! Pretty but golly I couldn't take it. Y'all are tougher than me. Be safe. It's 55* here in SE Georgia but is expected to drop into the teens later this week. Hope that's not true. I'll be so glad when it's Spring. Sending prayers. ❤️ 💙

I enjoyed your pictures. How kind of your neighbor girls to come shoveling your driveway. Precious, really. From Saturday night until about 10 yesterday morning we had about e inches of snow and then it turned to sleet . That was all we had and thought it was the end, but after I did my blog post this morning I noticed it had started snowing and it doesn't appear to be in any hurry to stop

Wouah! I enjoyed the snow pictures it’s always nice but not fun! Bob has a lot to do!
Here we had rain which is an event.
Something scary a nasty virus is coming ( from bats) I am really scared as it is transmitted to humans I will put a mask on again in the Mall. Hope it goes well.

Oh my goodness. I've never seen a real 100-car pile up before. Wow! So glad no one was killed.

Funny that they talked his ear off. lololol. Love that they all worked together.

Wishing you a wonderful and fun week ahead.

this blessed my heart that these little girls were willing to help. Your photos are so pretty and they really tell the picture of how much snow you all have gotten. Goodness Mari..that is a whole lot of snow. Your Bob was so kind to let the girls do a lot of talking...At least it probably kept his mind off of the hard work.

Even though I grew up in Michigan, I can no longer imagine dealing with all that snow. That pile up of cars is scary. How cute to think of Bob shoveling with the neighbor girls.

Incredible! Wow. Oh my goodness on that multi-vehicle pile up. I hope nobody was seriously injured. Snow makes for the most beautiful photos. What thoughtful neighbors you have.

I'm having a week and not even looking outside. My kids keep sending me pictures of yardsticks stuck in their yards. My husband is out in his carharts too. He loves snowplowing driveways and sidewalks.

Wow ... I just can't even imagine that much snow!!
What a job to clear the pathways and the picture of Bob clearing the deck ... he's almost disappearing ...
Precious neighbor girls out there working so hard and having fun talking Bob's ear off ... delightful. I'm sure it helped pass the time while working so hard.
Please stay safe and cozy in your lovely home.

I think you win the most snow award. That is a lot of snow. Friends of ours and our neighbor came to do our driveway last night. We were so thankful!

Wow that is some huge pile up of cars!

Snow is beautiful, but a lot of work to clear! Glad to see the neighbors helped AND that you all have a snow blower.

That's a lot of snow and that pile up...ouch! We are digging out of 19" and now they are predicting the possibility of a true blizzard on Sunday. Is it spring yet? Haha!!

Goodness me! I don't think I've seen anything like this ... that car pile up, thankful there were no serious injuries.

Here in the UK some areas are under a Storm warning but it's unlikely it will be as bad as your photograph show (fingers crossed).
Keep safe and keep warm and hopefully keep power.

All the best Jan

That is a lot of snow, we have that much here too, and it keeps coming all week, from Lake Ontario...the snow we're getting after the N'oreaster is heavier and getting deeper. I haven't been out of the house in days...

I love how friendly your neighbours are that they came to shovel snow at your place. And that photo of the car pile up is kind of shocking! That's a lot of chaos.

Oh my, Mari! I can't even imagine that anymore!! Stay safe and stay warm, my friend!

And that 100+ car pileup--I've never seen/heard of such a thing. Good news that no one was injured.
Stay safe and warm..

The snow on the pine trees is truly enchanting! And when I saw the picture from your porch, I was remembering sitting there in May in beautiful weather and flowers blooming and your adorable grandkids all around! What a precious memory. Yes, it will soon be spring! What a blessing xoxo 🌺🏴‍☠️
