We live near the Grand River and this time of year, it always floods, mostly from the snow melting. I always like to go down to the riverfront to see it, and although it's not nearly as flooded as it has been some years, it's interesting to see how high the water can be.
I went to the little riverfront park near us last week and this is how things are looking.
It's kind of a bleak beauty I think, no leaves on the trees yet and water everywhere.
On Saturday, I was driving along the river in a different area which shows more of the flooding.
As I said, it's not nearly as bad as other years, but still interesting to see.

Flooding is always a little bit scary. It must be within the normal flooding levels for you. It is interesting how Mother Nature works and copes.
No flooding for us. We don't get enough rain. Have a great week, Mari!
Luckily there was no major damage.
I liked the photo under the bridge!
Have a great week, Mari!!
I have a lot of respect for water and fire. You just can't stop them, once they get going. There is beauty in your photos but flooding is still scary. Hope it recedes quickly!!
Hi Mari,
Looks like you had a good "water year" in your area. We may have some flooding around here when the snow pack starts coming down out of the mountains. Hopefully, it won't be too bad. I hope you have a good week! See you again soon!
Your description is absolutely perfect! Bleak Beauty!
Seeing this kind of things always makes me realize, we as humans are quite helpless when it come to the forces of nature. They are impressive and beautiful.
Great walk sceneries for sure. It reminds me overdue for a good work out
It is sad and beautiful at the same time. Glad it is not as bad as it has been.
Mari, your pictures are absolutely beautiful...especially the second one down from the top. xx
It sounds like the area is used to the flooding - but still - it is amazing to see. I guess it will be good for the water reservoirs and water tanks.
Spring melt and runoff is always interesting to me. It's hard to imagine just how much snow accumulated over the winter, and then as things start to warm up and the waters begin to gather it's facinating to realize just how much water is in the winter snows.
Beautiful pictures.

Mari, I love the term you used here...Bleak Beauty. That is perfect way to describe it! And I love it too!
Cool shot under the bridge!
It reminds me of the time we were living by the river Seine lots of flooding in the village and flooding in some houses. Our tees have leaves now but you are up north and they may arrive later.
You took some great pictures.
When you say you walk under the bridge, is there a spot without water you can stand on?
Looks like there won't be a drought in your neck of the woods for a whie.
I love the pictures you took.
You captured the flooding well. You are right bleak but still pretty.
I especially like the snapshot you took from underneath the bridge, where you could see the supports lined up out from you. I've taken similar pictures underneath beach piers with the waves rolling in. For some reason, that perspective just fascinates me.
I hope we NEVER get any flooding here. Hopefully the water will recede soon so the animals can get back into the pasture. I saw pics of the flooding in Kentucky and I feel so bad for those folks down there. My co-worker was down there when the flooding started and she had to take different roads as most of the ones she was use to going on were closed due to flooding. Janice
Yes the scenes are bleak, but beautiful for the season. Flooding seems to be everywhere!
You've shared some good photographs here, I particularly like the one under the bridge and as you say you can see the 'bleak beauty' in many of your pictures.
There is rain coming this week for many areas of the UK but hopefully no flooding!
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
Wow! I hope you are not too close to that flooding where you live! It is beautiful to see the pictures, but flooding is something that I really don't want to live anywhere near! But I know it is inevitable there will be some in the spring in many places. Thank you for sharing. Just pray you are able to stay high and dry!
It amazes me how high water gets.
Flooding is never good and it is shocking how much damage water can do. Your photos are so beautiful, and I love the cows. I have made adjustments on my new Chromebook so I can navigate your posts more easily and clearly. What got me was the white background and the small font on the comment link at the end of your post, but I have fixed things on my new laptop now and this will help me on any blogs I visit. Your posts are captivating and your photos are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow all that snow y'all had is still affecting the area, I see! I know you'll be extra-appreciative of the beautiful summer that is coming. xoxo
