The Grand Canyon is something I've always wanted to see. It did not disappoint me. It was Grand indeed! Majestic, beautiful - something you can hardly wrap you head around and photos do not do it justice. I did take photos though - lots of them, and it was hard to pick out a few to share.
We drove about 1 1/2 hours to get there. The drive itself was beautiful, with ever changing scenery. The background here is the Grand Staircase Escalante, and there are cows in the field. Cheri and I, being farmers daughters enjoyed seeing the cows, but there weren't many in this area.
Another view of the Grand Staircase Escalante.
We saw a lot of signs like this, winding roads, hills, U turns...
Hooray! We made it!
The initial view of the canyon! Awestruck and amazed by the beauty and vastness of it!
Do you see the hole in this one?
Bob and Mark enjoying the scene. They were also enjoying some quiet from their wives. Both Cheri and I are scared of heights, and while we so enjoyed this day, the steep cliffs scared us, especially when the guys went closer than we thought they should. The look out spots with fences felt so much safer!
Do you see the people up there? Yes, I was up there too, but not close to the edge!
We also enjoyed these aspen trees throughout the park, with their white bark and light green leaves.
We had supper that night at a western type restaurant, which had lots of fun things around it. We thought this was a fitting place for Bob and Mark after all they put us through that day!

WOW!!! I went through all the pictures enlarged. Just incredible! Last picture is hilarious!
The pictures are amazing and the Canyon is breathtaking. Love the red rock!
Mari, I had to laugh as I read your blog post. I too am afraid of heights so I saw the Grand Canyon from afar.lol I did enjoy our breakfast at the Bright Angel Lodge which is perched on the edge of the canyon. There was a big terrace so I could sit there and look out! Glad you are having a good trip.
Mari, your beautiful photos brought back so many memories. I've only been to the Grand Canyon once, and I'll never forget the feeling I had there. We really expected to be underwhelmed, thinking nothing could possibly live up to the hype. I don't need to tell *you*, it exceeded our expectations. I was in awe, speechless and teary-eyed at its grandness!
Your photos are beautiful, Mari. I haven't been to the Grand Canyon myself, in spite of the fact that I've lived in the southwest for almost 12 years. I do plan to visit someday soon, though. Thanks for sharing!
Every picture is stunning!
Memories to last a lifetime, though I hope you get to visit again :)
Have a lovely day, sweet friend.

I've been there and it's just as you described. How I'd love to go again...minus the hike to the bottom and the hike out again!!
We flew over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter and it was both scary and amazing at the same time. Photos just cannot capture the size or beauty of it all. So you didn't do the glass walkway?
Oh my goodness, how beautiful. The colors are just amazing and I can only imagine how vivid they must be in person! I LOVE Aspen trees. They are so pretty!
Haaahaha only right that Bob and Mark should repent and do time for their transgressions. I'm like you: NO WAY am I going anywhere near the edge. Lots of people have died doing that. A young man in California fell to his death a week or so when he ignored barriers on a cliff and went out there to get a selfie. Not worth it. Your pictures are stunning. I would not know where to begin with pictures if I had that opportunity. What a great thing that you were able to take this trip. xoxo
The first time I went there I almost didn't think it seemed real. Sounds so silly, but it is so immense and fantastic looking!
Wow! Amazing photos! I would really love to visit.....Maybe one day
Phoebe x
Gorgeous! I could go back to this canyon at the drop of a hat. Did you go down to the river on burros? Thst is just an swesome adventure. The colors and clarity of your photos are super Mari.
Wow! Those pictures are amazing - I can't imagine how much better it would be in real life! I'm not sure if I could enjoy it though because I would just be terrified about anyone going over the edge! I love those aspen trees too, so pretty.
Oh so glorious! Beautiful photo's, Mari!
I'm so glad you guys were able to make that trip!
xoxo
